Mitsubshi big screen VS-5041

Suddenly it turned off making weird noises, then when I turned it on again just the audio worked, but the video didn't.

I checked the fuses and one of the 3 of the 125V - 4A was burned, so I replaced it and turned it on again and started making some click sounds and I could see how the fuse burned again but the sound was still working. I replaced the fuse again and check where the sound was comming from (a small black box at the rear of the set), so I hitted it kind of gentle several times and it didn't burn out the fuse again but this time the sound dindn't come out. Now if I turn it on, I can only hear a click but nothing else, no sound or video. Please give me a hint. Thanks!!

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi VS-5071 rear projection turns on, has audio but no video

That is a VZ3 chassis, similar to Mitsubishi models Ts-4545, Ts-5045, Ts-5545, Vs-4543, Vs-4544, Vs-5043, Vs-5044, Vs-5047, Vs-6043, Vs-6047 and has common failures in the vertical circuit, specifically vert Ic401 which is a La7845 which is usually caused by defective C402 100uf 50v and/or open 1.2 ohm 2 watt R510 next to FBT.
If not that check C268 off Q215 on signal board 22mf/50v and Ic200 on signal module Cxa2025s. However the vertical failure is more likely.

What wrong with my Mitsubishi Big Screen Television VS-5041?

It could be over heating. So if this is the case close the heat vents near the tv; And also, but a small fan and have it blow behind the tv to keep it cool. The cooler area for a tv the longer it will keep on.

I have an old mistubishi vs-5041 the audio on the tv is perfectly fine but their is no picture what so ever its just a black screen any suggestions on how to repair

It seems that your unit has some sort of Video Output problem or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply section to the Video side of things.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Good Day, rob;
More than likely you have CRT coolant (fuild) on the board(s). Check this by removing the TV's speaker grill, the small panel and look for the fluid using a bright light. It's not always easy to see, if fluid is found remove it with acetone and use heavy plastic and drape loosely over the board in the front. Always remove POWER from TV BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY SERVICE. Good Luck, big IRISH.
