MA2 laptop, not charging battery, changed burnt 4407 chip, no LED now.

Laptop I found didn't charge battery, and only would work with a battery. so I found a burnt mosfet 4407 chip and swapped it out. Now board will power up off AC, and not battery. No LED showing battery charging. Before charging LED was in error color. Did I solider it wrong? Do I need another chip changed too?

This unit had a RED CHARGE error. Replaced PQ38 solved the problem.

If you get an error on the charge circuit after replacing the PQ38 you should also replace PQ38 because it too may be blown. Make sure Pin 1 where the dots. Also check the MOSFET on the other side of the COIL too.

I've got power problem and burnt PQ38 4407 MOSFET chip. Mine is trying to start from battery but shutts off 5 sec later (with burnt chip)
Looks like PQ37 4411 has to be replaced. Looks like it's also N channel MOSFET
I'm trying to find a source for it.
Let me know if you can find one

Motherboard charging chip burnt

You cannot jump over a failed component. You will have to replace the chip and some other failed components that feed the chip. There is no other solution to repair the charging circuit.

My laptop not charging

When you say it won't charge, does it charge at all?
1. It indicates that it is charging, but as soon as you unplug the charger the battery quickly or immediately indicates it is dead. If the laptop is off, the LED on the laptop shows it is charging but the battery is always dead,

Or: 2. It is as if you didn't have the charger plugged in. No light on the laptop at all when the charger is plugged in.

Possible solutions:
1. The battery has died and is no longer capable of taking a charge. An alternate explanation if you can't even get the laptop to turn on even though the laptop charge LED is on, is that the internal power supply that converts the incoming and battery voltage to all the voltages required has died.
Or: 2. The power connector inside the laptop is a common failure point. The solder joints break from various minor shocks over time. This is going to become more common with lead-free solder as it is more brittle. Less likely is that the charging circuit inside the laptop has failed.

Symptoms of a broken power jack

2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.

No. You'll need a new motherboard. IC's on computer motherboards are generally not redundant, and if the chip is there, it is there because it is necessary.

Laptop won't charge anymore

Sometimes the dc connector breaks internally and you will not be able to charge laptop. If you have laptop open you can use a multimeter and check to see if there is continuity on the power and ground pins if not then just replace that and you are good to
go.
