Question about Smart Pulse Livescribe pen
When I plug the usb cable into the the pen it does not charge the pen the way it used to. One day it just stopped being able to be charged. The pen turns on fine, and then displays the battery low icon. When I plug in the micro usb cable, nothing happens. Up until it stopped working, once you plugged in the usb cable it used to begin changing the pen and display the battery chaging icon. Now, nothing happens after plugging in the usb
My smartpen does not charge when I dock it to the charging cable.

FIXED/SOLVED Similar Issue: Realise I'm very late to the party here but; I own a LiveScribe Echo 2Gb Smartpen which had a similar issue, sometimes wouldn't charge and was detected by my PC but not recognised, I solved this by carefully dismantling it and cleaning out quite a lot of dust with a can of Air Duster.

It is the display that is not working. I have 3 pens with similar conditions. I originally though it wasn't charging, it turns out you just cant tell, because the LCD is bad. All three pens experienced this around the same time. I believe it is a bad software or firmware "upgrade" that broke the LCD component, rendering (in my case) $500+ of unusable equipment in 3 pens (2 Pulse, 1 Echo). I use the product constantly, but no longer. The wifi version is completely unacceptable as it no longer has script to text conversion. Is there an attorney interested in a class action suit?

I experienced the continuous appearing of low battery icon even I recharged my pen. I tried the major resetting of pen but did not work. The solution I did was completely drained the battery until it automatically shut down right after the power on. Then recharged the pen. Everything goes back to normal and the low battery icon disappeared. > russcalub

Sounds like the micro USB cable is defective and needs to be replaced. But, first try the cable on another USB port to be certain that the USB port is OK.
