Check to see if the ignitor glows in the oven. If it does not come on or comes on very dim, you have a bad ignitor. It is usually a bad ignitor. They are very simple to replace. Just unplug the oven first. Then take off the bottom of the oven floor inside the oven to access the ignitor. the ignitor has 2 wires going to a plug, just unplug the plug and remove the mounting screws. Take your ignitor to a local appliance store to get a replacement. There are 2 models of ignitors so bring the old one with you to make sure you get the right one. Good luck..

I suspect a faulty ignitor. It must draw a certain amount of amps to open the gas valve

Gas oven is not working but broiler is working

Hi,
The problem usually is the ignitor. Even if it glows it may not be pulling enough current to open the gas valve. They also are very fragile and break easily.
This tip will help you also.

Xl44 gas

two things either hte clock(control ) assy not sending powerdown to the igiotr, or hte valve that the ignitor is connected to onst nay good, unplugh the unit andwitha meter try testing the 2 wire connections on the top of the safety valve( i wire goes to the ignitor nad the other is a neutral wire htt hooks downt to under the valve for the broiler, you should show continuity across those to leads, if not your valve is no good and will need replacing

Sounds like the the thermostat. This is the dial item which controls the temperature. Removal and replacement is usually straightforward. Turn off the power before starting work.
