Something else you might check, I was having same problem. Make sure the Daisy Wheel Lock Lever (check the description that comes in the guide) is locked in place, i.e., push it forward to lock. It is the black thing that sticks up on the right inside the correction tape. I did this and words started appearing. Hope it helps.

Check to be sure that the correction tape is in properly and tight. Then make sure that the ribbon (and correction tape) are between the two metal "fingers" and the cardholder (which is the metal thing that holds the paper close to the platen right in front of the ribbon) Is the ribbon moving? You should be able to hold the ribbon up and see each letter on the ribbon. Also make sure the printhammer is locked forward. You should not be able to just reach in and take the printwheel out without the ribbon in place. The only other thing I can think of, is the ribbon got twisted some how. The dull side should be towards the paper.

I have this type nakajima ae-830, i so confuse why i can typing on my keyboard, but at my paper just blank and no one letters show at my paper. Any idea?

If you are typing on your Nakajima AE-830 typewriter but nothing is appearing on the paper, it is possible that there is an issue with the typewriter's print mechanism. Here are some things you can check to try to resolve the issue:
  1. Check the ribbon: Make sure that the typewriter ribbon is properly installed and is not worn or dry. If the ribbon is not properly installed, or if it is too old and dry, it may not be transferring ink to the paper. Consider replacing the ribbon with a new one.
  2. Check the print mechanism: Look closely at the print mechanism to see if any parts are jammed or misaligned. Make sure the print hammer is making contact with the ribbon and paper. If any parts are jammed or misaligned, carefully unjam or realign them.
  3. Check the paper feed: Make sure the paper is properly loaded and is feeding correctly through the typewriter. Make sure the paper is not jammed or wrinkled, and that the paper release lever is set correctly.
  4. Check the print settings: Check to see if the typewriter is set to the correct print mode. Some typewriters have a "stencil" mode that allows you to type without transferring ink to the paper. Make sure the typewriter is set to the correct mode for printing.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be necessary to take the typewriter to a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair.

  1. Is the daisy wheel locked in the forward position?
    1. Pull the black lever back, away from the platen.
    2. Lift out the daisy wheel and inspect it for damage; replace the daisy wheel if it is damaged.
    3. Re-insert the daisy wheel and push the black lever towards the platen until it locks in place.
  2. Is the ribbon moving?
    1. Lift the ribbon cartridge out of the typewriter
    2. Inspect the ribbon for damage
    3. If the ribbon is silver, it is exhausted and must be replaced
    4. If the hammer has been striking in one place, there will be a clear area near the center of the ribbon.
    5. Turn the colored knob on the left side of the ribbon cartridge counter-clockwise to advance the ribbon a small amount. Replace the ribbon if it will not advance.
    6. Re-insert the ribbon
  3. Turn on the typewriter, insert a piece of paper into the typewriter and type a few letters
    1. Did the hammer move forward?
    2. If the hammer moved, did the ribbon advance with each keystroke?
If the hammer did not move or the ribbon did not advance, the typewriter will require service. If the typewriter still does not make an impression on the paper, your typewriter will require service.

My Remington Noiseless 1939 typewriter has ghosting on the letter keys. I have put on a new ribbon but this just shows up the ghosting of each letter more than ever. I notice when typing the carriage

Could also be that your paper is too fibrous of finish. I found this page because my typewriter was ghosting, too. I adjusted some of the settings and there was not a trace of ghosting. I put the settings back and still no trace of ghosting. Then I realized that I tested for ghosting on paper that has a much smoother finish. I was ghosting on cheap paper we use here at work. So, I don't blame the typewriter. I blame the cheap paper. My typewriter just likes good paper.

Letters aren't striking ribbon

Get some WD40 and spray it on thw segment (the place where the type bars are swung) then everywhere the key mechinism pivots.

Keys are striking the paper but no black ink is printing on paper

If tou put in a two part form and it types on the second form the ribbon is either empty of not lifting up. If it isn't lifting up there is a large black gear on the rt. side of the printer, wiggle it back and forth they sometimes jam tooth for tooth.
