Black Lines I have an Hitachi 61SWX10B. I have recently moved and once I turned the TV back on I noticed these black lines across the tv. These only show up when I light area, white area of bright area shows up on the screen. I would hope to think I could maybe fix this myself. Someone told me that it looked like a "Vertical" problem, but I'm not sure and wouldn't know how to fix this. Just to reset first before proceed another procedure;

Resetting the TV
NOTE:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet for 4 - 6 hours.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.

Hi, I've purchased a 2nd hand LG 42" Plasma TV set

Usually black lines in a flat panel indicate an error or problem in the video board. A service professional can hook up to the tv and better diagnose the issue.

You need to get into your menu and find where you can reinstall factory settings, or default settings. Also you can try the realignment......

Ur tv convergence ICS are dead.U have tools to do soldering,and know how to do soldering?Must replaced 2 STK convergence ICS,and some or all it resistors.Tries websites like Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence to repair it ur self.The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

maybe you have interference with other electrical component near your tv. move the component, example cable box, dvd, sat box.

You may have a poor seated cable connector. Unplug TV from A/C, remove back look for a large black connector. It connects between the Main Digital Module and the Drive PWB. Re-insert both ends several times to make better contact, use contact cleaner if have but not always needed. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Hitachi 42EDT41 plasma model-1" black stripe on right side

This is an old post but maybe it will help others. You will have to take the back off of the TV. On the bottom you will see ribbon cables coming from the screen and connecting to 3 PC boards. Take the screws out that holds the cable down. Underneath you will see 4 resistors marked 100. All you have to do is re-solder the resistors and your vertical line will be gone. You need to be good at soldering or you could damage the ribbon. The only ones that you have to re-solder is the ones in line with the lines on the screen.

Power problem?

Try th set in another room, if only to see if this phenomenom happens with other light fixtures or appliances. Would suspect the switching type supply in the TV as suspect if the problem "moves" with the set....accordianman
