Just a thought. Swap one of your audio leads to the video out on the DVD and then plug the other end of the same lead into the video in on the TV. If you get a picture just buy a new lead and all will be well. We HOPE :-) BMW

Just another thought. Check the video in socket on the TV as well. I got a Brand new Big screen TV and my darling Grandson couldn't wait to plug his X-Box into it. Everything worked well but when he pulled the video in lead out of the TV it was a bit tight so he srewed it out. What happened was he screwed the complete socket around and the wiring snapped off the back. Pop was not happy :-)

Open the unit and check around the output jack for the video and check the cables as well If theres a bad connection your gonna or someones gonna need to know how to solder.. if you see the connctions bad and cant do it your self somne repair center may charge you a minimal fee for a resoldering job. I am having a problem with my DVD 218. It sounds like the audio output is blown. I need a service manual to find and repair the problem.

Hello,

First, the service manual for your Coby DVD 218 is not available. The manufacturer of the player did not produce a service/repair manual for it.

The problem might be from the audio cord of the player. Use another audio wire and observe the sound. Also, there are more that one audio out put at the back of the player, you could test other audio outputs on the player.

I just hope it is not an audio output problem as you guessed, because fixing is not as easy as you think.

Good luck.

How to connect dvd player to AV reciever

S-Video is a media type that only carries video. Unfortunately the LG unit was designed only to be a self contained surround sound unit. There are only video outputs to the television on this unit. Because of the unit having surround sound capabilities, LG felt that their wasn't a need for audio output. You would need to buy a new DVD player to allow audio from the DVD to your new Yamaha unit. Good Luck!

Possibly in the wrong output mode. (i.e. in PAL-60 when NSTC is needed)
On the remote, press the PAL/NSTC button to cycle through the output modes.   Choices are: NSTC, PAL, PAL-60 and AUTO.
Also make sure the correct TV type is selected in the System Setup menu.

No Audio when I play Blu-Ray discs with Dolby TrueHD

For dolby digital to work you have to have the optical or coax cable hooked up to the reciever ,The HDMI cable is for digital video and audio output but does not support dolby digital out the cable into your reciever , so just turn off the dolby digital on your reciever and you should hear the sound.
here is more info

Dolby TrueHD is an advanced lossless multi-channel audio codec developed by Dolby Laboratories which is intended primarily for high-definition home-entertainment equipment such as Blu-ray Disc. It is the successor to the AC-3 Dolby Digital surround sound codec which was used as the audio standard for DVD discs. In this application, Dolby TrueHD competes with DTS-HD Master Audio, another lossless codec from Digital Theater System.
Dolby TrueHD uses Meridian Lossless Packing (MLP) as its mathematical basis for compressing audio samples. MLP was used on the earlier DVD-Audio format, but details of TrueHD and DVD-Audio differ substantially. A Dolby TrueHD bitstream can carry up to 14 discrete sound channels. Sample depths up to 24 bits/sample and audio sample rates up to 192 kHz are supported. Like the more common legacy codec Dolby Digital, TrueHD bitstreams carry program metadata. Metadata is separate from the coding format and compressed audio samples, but stores relevant information about the audio waveform. For example, dialog normalization and Dynamic range compression are controlled by metadata embedded in the TrueHD bitstream.
