Separator Sheets with smiley faces

My printer is printing arbitrary amounts of separator sheets with three smiley faces in the top left corner with most print jobs. I checked the blank pages and the separator pages tabs and both are set to "none". There do not seem to be any settings on the users' computers that would cause this, so I'm at a loss for how to fix it. Please help?!

Multiple pages feed when printing on hp 7410

  • If the automatic document feeder (ADF) does not pick up any pages at all, the rollers inside the automatic document feeder need to be cleaned.
  • If the automatic document feeder picks up multiple pages instead of single sheets, the separator pad inside the automatic document feeder needs to be cleaned.
SolutionLoad one or two sheets of unused plain white full-size paper into the document feeder tray, and then press Start Copy Black to pull the pages through the automatic document feeder. The plain paper releases and absorbs residue from the rollers and separator pad.note.pngNOTE:If the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, try cleaning the front roller. Wipe the roller with a soft lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. If the problem persists, or the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, clean the rollers and separator pad manually. Follow the procedures below to remove the face plate from the front of the automatic document feeder, access the pick assembly inside the automatic document feeder, clean the rollers or separator pad, and then reattach the face plate.

  3. Open the paper support and pull up the extension.

  4. Extend the output tray.

  5. Flip the feeder guard forward. Squeeze the edge guide and slide it left.

    pm_paperload_218_er.gif

  6. Insert paper, printable side up and short edge first, against the right side and beneath the tab.

    pm_paperload_219_er.gif

You can load up to 100 sheets of 20 lb plain paper or up to 20 sheets of photo paper.

  7. Slide the edge guide to the edge of the paper, but not too tightly.

    pm_paperload_220_er.gif

Follow these guidelines when loading paper:

    • Do not load paper above the arrow on the edge guide.

    • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

    • If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin.

    • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

    • Load the printable side face-up. It's often brighter or whiter than the other side.

    • Load letterhead or preprinted paper top edge first.

    • If you experience paper feeding problems, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If you're using special paper, check the package for special loading instructions.
Follow these steps to reload paper in the Automatic Document Feeder:

  1. Remove the paper and make sure it's not curled or wrinkled.

  2. Tap the originals on a flat surface to even the edges.

  3. Move the edge guides outward.

    pm_paperload_223_er.gif

  4. Insert the originals face-up. You can load up to 30 letter-size sheets at a time. If you load legal-size sheets, insert only 10 sheets at a time. Make sure the originals are not creased or folded and do not have tape, staples, or other materials that could obstruct the feeder.

  5. Slide the edge guides against the originals.
