How to covert to Mac edition (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro)

Just bought this from ebay, and want to convert it to work with my QuickSliver (2002) G4

I discovered that to convert it to work with my Mac, I would need to remove two resistors, flash program it, and mask a couple of pins not to mention I would need to up-grad my power supply to 300W. To run the d*m thing on my HP Pavilion a500n, I am going to have to up-grad its power supply anyway. I am not a gamer, so I should not have bought this power hog at all!

Not to worry. I will use it in my HP and will buy a 300W power supply for it too! It is a used card so no warrantee on it. Just that is works. Thank you for the advice Vern:) appreciate it.

Even if you do this, I would not guarantee it will work. Before you destroy it and void the warranty, you could probably return it or sell it on eBay. It's still a decent card for a AGP variety.

The video processor no longer operates - the lines are caused by the simple operation of the timer clock of the processor. The card is dead and you must replace it.

Most likely you can not replace just the fan on this card. If it is possible your best source for getting an actual replacement is going to be the ATI website. Search for repair or replacement parts on that site.

Video ram error 2ATI/1/4:113-A14404-118 in Apple hardware test Power Mac G5 DP 2,5 ATI Radeon 9800 XT

This one is pretty clear. Your machine is a June, 2004 model. Your video RAM is bad. Video RAM is not user-replaceable on the Radeon 9800 XT, so you will have to replace the Radeon card itself.

An inadequate power supply might be your problem. Check the requirements on the video card and then look inside your case to see how many watts your power supply is putting out. If it is less than the number required by the card then this is likely your issue.

If you meet or exceed the amount necessary then it might be an issue with your drivers. Maybe sure you visit the ATI website for the most up to date and current drivers. Oftentimes many video card issues are solved by a simple driver update.

Swap 9800 Pro for 9700 Pro

You must uninstall the current driver and reinstall the driver for the 9800 Pro first:

Power supply recommended is 300watt for each, so that is not a factor. It would have to be a driver conflict.
