SOURCE: ACER 4315 flickering screen (very bad)

  1. First since it is only 3 months old. Bring it back to where you purchase it so that you can avail of the warranty.
  2. If for any reason you cant do that then try the following
  • Turn off your laptop
  • remove the LCD bezel by removing the rubber and screws
  • try to reinsert the cable that attaches the monitor to the INVERTER. The inverter is the one lighting up the screen. Usually this is located at the bottom of the screen
  • if this doesnt work then try to remove the LCD panel and reinsert the flex cable located at the back and see what happens
NOTE: make sure when you remove cable and re inserting them in, your laptop should not be attached to ac or battery.

i hope i was able to help

SOURCE: Acer Laptop Screen Flickering

The flickering screen indicates that it is a backlight problem with either a faulty inverter or inverter connection problem. The inverter is usually located at the bottom edge of the LCD screen, and may have one or two connectors (one for the video info. and one for the inverter power or a combined connector) attached to the motherboard under the case near the top edge of the keyboard near the hinges. Reseating these connectors may solve your problem.

SOURCE: adjusting screen brightness

If you hear the hard drive spinning and you think Windows is working but you can't see an image or a very dim image then :-
You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :-
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

My Acer Travelmate 7530 does not want to start up. Switch on button lights up green

Here below is possible cause and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can power on, hope it may help:Possible cause:
AC adapter failure.
Power jack failure.
Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:

Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

If you are sure that your laptop charger is malfuction, just get a new adapter from chargerbuy.com:

Screen is flicking again and agin Model is ACER Travelmate 5730

If the screen flickers when the lid is moved, then it is most likely the LCD ribbon cable has a bad connection to the LCD controller board. If it flickers without lid movement, then it is probably the inverter module for the LCD, but if it flickers constantly and especially if there are white lines that stay constant accross the display, then it may be an overheating or failing GPU. Check the air vents on the unit and make sure that there is no blockage if the latter is the case.

Hope this Helps.

Display flickers on acer travelmate 2410

so, did the new inverter fix the problem? and, when you were replacing the inverter, did you get to peek at the screen? ok ok, I'll make it easier than that. take your model number and search for "Acer 2410 LCD" on eBay, there are a lot of screens and none of them show a video cable that is glued or soldered to the screen. there are, in fact, a few video cables there as well, so my guess is that they are flat out lying to because 1) to get you to pay too much for repairs 2) because the person at tech support has no idea 3) they are sold together according to their parts list or 4) they really DO go together. My guess is that what they are talking about is a completely new LCD panel INSIDE a lid case with the hinges and bezel and all that. So SURE it's going to look like the cable is included, but if you just pop the back off the lid, it's probably about 10 minutes of work to replace the LCD without replacing the cable. I have to provide 2 caveats to this:

1) Acer is NOTORIOUS for glue. they love the stuff and may well have glued everything together inside the screen case.

2) I have no real experience with this specific model so I'm not sure.

It's just that every other screen ever is pretty much made of the same parts: an LCD screen with a backlight cable and a video input socket, an inverter if it's in the screen, mic, video camera, light, etc if they are in the screen, frame, back of case, and a video cable that goes from the video socket out to the mobo.

IS the display light flickering or the display image? that's important too. Good luck. it's my guess that it's either a bad connection a bad CCFL or was a bad inverter. the cables may have gotten pinched and that could be it too.
