I have a linksys Wireless N Broadband Router model # WRT160N. I have tried countless times to enable port fowarding so I can remotely access my home network. I can log into the router fine from home. What do I need to do to enable remote login? Do you have a site that includes step-by-step intructions?
Port forwarding is not the only thing that you have to enable to access your home network. Firstly do you just want to access your router from the outside? If that is the case enable remote login via the administration tab.
If you want to login to your computer from the outside then you must first enable remote desktop and enable port forwarding on your router.
You enable port forwarding for port 3389 which is the remote desktop port. So start port is 3389 and end port is 3389 after that set a static IP on your computer that you want to access.
You can enable remote desktop by following the directions below at the link '
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/enableremote.mspx
After doing this. What you do is go to the status tab of your router. Look at the IP there.
On the remote computer lauch remote desktop and enter that IP then click connect. IT will then ask you for the username and password of the computer behind the router that you want to login to. After that you should be able to get in.
If you need any clarifications regarding this you may message me and id be glad to help.

I have the same problem, I have everything set right. on the router and the PC. Can access remote desktop on the lan, but not outside. www.grc.com shows everything stealthy. www.canyouseeme.org shows port 3389 open. A static ip is assigned to the host machine and configured on the linksys with a IP reservation. netstat /a show port 3389 listening. Port range forwarding both protocals to port 3389 is enabled on the linksys. The ISP is not blocking the port. I have a simple workgroup config behind a Winstel DSL modem and a WRT160N, I know this stuff and can usually figure it out but this one I cannot. I even reset the router and rebuilt the network. UNCLE!!
