GE double oven - bottem will not heat, top oven fine

Hi,
Did you find a solution to the oven not heating? I have the same problem. The bottom oven control seem to be fine. I can set the temperature then the oven would start heating at 100F and go blank.

Thanks,

Chuck

top oven works fine. lower oven will not bake or broil. set control panel to bake and temperature just goes to 100 but nothing happens. elements show continuity. i think it may be the control because i get 240 out of the control for the upper oven but zero voltage out for the lower oven

I had a similar problem. Solved mine by resetting the manual reset thermal switch. The switch for the top oven is located behind the control panal which can be removed easily by taking out three screws then lifting up an leaning out. The switch has a red reset button, just push it in till it clicks.

For safety, SWITCH THE BREAKER OFF WHILE YOU DO THIS!!!

The lower oven switch is located behind the vent grill between the two ovens.

GE should be ashamed of hiding this feature-it isn't mentioned in the manual. I discovered it on a schematic hidden behind the control panal.

Good Luck, DVS1936

I ended up taking the control board out the the oven, took the board apart and found a loose connection (solder joint) on the bottom of one of the relays. resoldered the bad connection now the oven works fine.

Bottom oven doesn't heat after running self-clean cycle

Usually, when an oven won't heat, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

Top oven will not heat up

Had a similar problem. The overheat sensor had failed to the open position and the oven control would light up and you could set the temp, but it would drop to 100 degrees and then go blank.
