Your best bet is to use the free program from Google called Picasa. You can download and install it for free from their web site. Once it is downloaded, double-click on the resulting file icon and follow the directions on the screen to install the software.

After you've installed the software, plug-in your camera to your computer using the provided USB cable. Picasa will recognize your camera and ask you if you'd like to import the pictures from your camera to your computer.

Try NOT using the USB cord.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

You don't need to use the Vivitar software.

No sound on Vivatar ViviCam3815 when video playback on camera and on computer from camera card.

The 3815 is designed primarily as a still camera. As such it captures images, not sounds. You can add a soundtrack using video-editing software on a computer, but you cannot record one on this camera.

Vivitar 3815

It's because the batteries aren't strong enough. You are probably using alkaline batteries, which are not recommended for digital cameras because they drain easily and quickly. Use nimH batteries.

Cant get pictures on pc

If your PC is a current one 98SE/ME/2000/XP
The PC will see the camera as an addition drive when plugged in.
The PC will put up the Scanner/Camera Wizard and ask what you need to do with the images.
If this is not happening.
Check out the following.
Is the Supplied Camera Software loaded - id it is Remove it
It is preventing Windows doing what it do all by its self
Assuming the camera is set up to upload.

Try all this and come back if no joy we can go further..

No Cord

If you have an SD card inserted and formatted in the camera and you have an SD card reader/writer on your computer, then you you really don't need a cord.

You can order the cable from
http://www.bestlaptopbattery.com/b.cfm/Digital-Camera/VIVITAR/ViviCam-3815/Digital-Camera-Data-Transfer-Cable-.htm

But, I looked at the cable and Target sells universal camera cables and you probably will be able to get one there. Look at the picture below this is the cable you need.
