NO POWER Suddenly the laptop has stopped powering. I have tried powering without the battery nd it doesnt work. How do I find out if the problem is with the charger or the charing socket in the laptop?

unplug the power cable from the laptop
remove the battery then press the power button for 5-10 secs
plug in the power cable to your laptop WITHOUT the BATTERY

try to turn on your computer if still doesnt work try a known good A/C adapter if still doesnt work then mobo needs to be replace

The problem could be with the adapter and not the battery.

Move the power jack around while plugged in, does the blinking on the battery stop when you hold it in certain positions? If so, your dc-jack needs to be soldered, but i probably was loose already before you started using it. It could be a broken motherboard issue as well. It sounds more like the large portability battery has been 'messed' i recommend getting a new power cord. Whist you may have repaired the cabling and it may have appeared to work, the escape circuit for charge may have been broken but it is not required for the laptop to work, but is important when recharging the battery. I recommend getting a new adapter and then if that doesn't work a new large battery also.

tried to remove battery and ac for a little while?

if that doesnt work, remove battery and ac-power.
remove the ram
put ac-power back and try to boot without ram
(do you get a beep/error?)
remove the ac again
insert the ram
insert battery
insert ac
try to boot up again.

if that doesnt work its probably a mainboard error and you need to take the computer to repair.

If the Laptop wont work off the power adepter, it also will not charge. The adepter could be bad (even if showing a power light) or the connector on the laptop could be broken. The best test is to take the battery out, attach the power adepter and try to start the computer if it starts, your battery is at fault. If nothing, suspect eh charger first. Be sure the pin on the Laptop power connector isn't bent or broken.

you have a hardware problem which would require opening your laptop. i suggest you bring it to a computer technician who can do the repair for you to avoid further damage.

Try to plug in the power cable alone, do it without the battery and see if your wireless works.  If your wireless works without the battery, and works with the cable alone it may be a battery conductivity problem.  

you may have a faulty motherboard connection, but try connecting the power adapter in without the battery and see if it runs, then replace the battery back in the compartment.
