Question about Olympus Camedia C-770 Digital Camera

Open Question

My Olympus C770 now defaults to no sound when taking a movie (this never used to happen) When I go in & turn on mike, sound quality very bad. The thing I am trying to record is in background under hi

The camera used to automatically record good quality sound. Now it doesn't record any sound unless I go in manually and turn on the mike. If the camera is switched off, the mike goes off again. Plus I am not sure if this is the correct mike, as mainly get hiss (as tho wind noise) and very little sound of what you're recording. The setting on the camera is AUTO, which is what I think I always had it switched to for movies.

Whenever I put my camera in movie mode to record a movie, there is no sound. A picture of a mic should come up automatically. If I record something, there is no sound. I can go in through the mode options and turn on the mic, but I have to do this every time I want to record a movie. I never used to have to do this, sound used to automatically be there whenever I switched the camera to the recording movie option and the mic symbol would already be there. I am not sure why the camera defaults now to not recording sound. The sound recorded is very low quality, it is mainly hissing and you can just about make out other sounds underneath the hissing. It sounds like it is not using the correct mic to record with. I hope this extra info is of help.

Unfortunately there is no way to disable the microphone when recording short movie clips. There is no menu setting to allow you to turn the microphone off.

I have nikon D90 SLR. with 18-135mm lens , i want to record a video with it but a videos quality is really low .. should I change a setting or something else?

Press the menu button and go to the shooting menu (the little camera icon). Scroll down to "movie settings." there are three quality settings. Select the one you want then try a test shot. The higher quality setting (1280 X 720 pixels) uses more memory. The default setting is 640 x 424 pixels and the lowest quality setting which uses the least amount of memory is 320 x 216 pixels. Sound is off by default so if you want to record sound with your video, you need to turn the microphone on in this menu as well.

I installed a 2gb Olympus xd picture card and formated it replacing the 16mb Olympus xd picture card. Now the yellow light blinks for a full minute before the camera is ready to take pictures. This happens...

wow that is kinda long did you format it in the camera or on your computer? also if you turn down the video/picture quality it will not take so long but 2 min is kinda long you might have a bad card take it back where you got it and see if they will swap it for a different one format it in the camera and try again if it is still slow try to format it in your computer and use FAT32
this is the most compatible and should work best Thanks 8^)

Olympus C 770 Video Recording

the C770 Ultra Zoom has the ability to use cards larger than 512MB and Type M cards but only for still photos. I tried to use a 1GB card and Type M cards with the same problem "Picture Error". Large videos (over 30 seconds or so) or videos utilizing zoom inevitably caused extremely long time to write the file to the card or failed in the process. The camera is only rated for up to 512MB card from the factory. [email protected] if you have other questions...hope this helps

Dvd pauses

mY DAV-C770 has the exact same problem ...when watching a movie it will intermittently pause or freeze ...then continue. It will do this 20 or 30 times throughout a movie. I asked a tech at Sony for help and he told me the laser reader is out of alignment. The minimum amount to have the dvd player sent out and repaired is $200.00, and thats if it does not require any parts. with a new laser reader it will be about $400.00. Almost the same price as a new dream system. Not worth fixing. I used to think really highly of Sony - until now. Jackal

The image previewed on the LCD monitor will be the exact image that is taken. How do I make a Panorama picture? You can easily make panorama pictures with your D-390 by “stitching” together multiple pictures. First, activate the panorama mode on the camera by selecting Mode Menu - Camera - Panorama. For more detailed information, please refer to the camera documentation. What is movie mode function? The movie mode function allows you to record short movie clips. The recorded movies can be played back or stored as still images using the cameras index function. Please note that the D-390 does not record sound in the movie mode.
