First check the wireless settings of your router. You will find all the wireless settings under the wireless tab.
For this you will need to access the setup page of the router by entering 192.168.1.1.

SOURCE: Broadband Router is asking for username and password

If you haven't setup a username and password on this router before.

Then it's probably using the factory default username and password, for that visit the manufacturer's website.

If you have setup a username and password before on this router, but forgotten what the password is. Give the router a hard reset. How to do that can be found in the manual.

SOURCE: lost username and password for router

Hi,

To reset the password on the router, switch it off, press and hold the 'reset' button whilst switching the power back on. Keep holding the reset button until all of the LAN lights blink, and your router will be reset back to the way it was when it left the factory.

This only applies to get round the settings installed on the router. You will have to input all the telefonica settings again so that your router can connect to the internet. Resetting the router will not solve any problems regarding telefonica passwords or user names - for this, you (or the account holder) will have to contact telefonica directly.

I hope this helps you.

I have an Amazon Kimble and now have a new WuFi service. I don't have or don't rember ehw password so I can't get into the store to download books. Can you help?

Is it WiFi in your home? If that's the case, and, you still can't remember/find your network's username and password--try resetting the wireless router (or access point--AP) to default factory settings. Use your PC or laptop to reenter factory settings with the router's/AP's networking address entered into a browser (likely Internet Explorer)--it should appear as something like 168.192.0.1 (depending upon your particular router)--it's in the manual.

If you don't have a manual, download the PDF version from the router/AP manufacturer online. Navigate within the menus provided on your PC's/laptop's screen. One of the menus should offer default factory reset. Indicate "Yes." (If you can't read a PDF file on your PC/laptop, download and install the free Adobe Reader from adobe.com.)

Once the router is reset, the manual indicates the temporary username and password to use for WiFi. This is the time, though, to invoke security once again for the router/AP--enter a sensible and secure username and password--something memorable, yet difficult for others to determine. Use letters, numbers, and even certain special characters. Follow the instructions to set up security, replacing the simple username and password--use WPA2 or WPA (encryption). WPA2 is the most secure.

Now's the time to configure the Kindle or other tablet: You need to find the WiFI settings menu in your Kindle--after enabling WiFI in the tablet, find your router/AP user name you just configured via your PC/Laptop in the Kindle menu--perhaps among those from other WiFi signals from neighbors or businesses. Choose your username, and enter the password. It should connect--securely now.

In a few locales in America (say, in California), not configuring security even proves illegal. Always secure your wireless network--people actually may scan for networks in order to share bandwidth--or, far worse, to garner sensitive personal info and otherwise hack in. Even these days, many people refuse to take sensible steps towards security--they're happy to get a connection of any type--not being locked out of their WiFI by forgotten security, either. That's a "shortcut to thinking."

Need to access my Motorola router password...help! Bought a Kindle and cannot use it.

Hi,

You might need to reset your router to the factory settings. First go to http://www.routerpasswords.com/ , select the manufacturer and make a note of the default usernames and passwords.

Then reset your router, by holding the reset button in the back for about 20 seconds.

This will reset it to default settings, and the password on the website above will work

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya.

If you wnat to connect your Kindle to the internet you need to access the Wireless Settings Page of the router and take note of the SSID or Network Name and Network Key or Passphrase. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank. Go to the Wireless Settings and under Security Mode you'll find the Network Key or Passphrase. You can alsoThen Personalize you Network Key or Passphrase so that you can easily remember it.

Connect you kindle to the Network Name of your Router then if it ask you for a password then enter the Network Key.

I have linksys wireless router and am trying to get wi fi on a recently purchased Kindle but Have forgotten my Linksys password. Please help

Hi nancylousdol,

If you have forgotten your password you can reset the router to its factory state and setup a new password for it. Resetting the router will wiped out all changes that have been saved. To reset the router, look for the small hole at the back of it. Press and hold it for 10-15 seconds using a Pen or Paperclip. Then access the router settings page so that you can personalize the settings.

For you to access your router you need a working computer that is connected to the router and open a browser type 192.168.1.1 to he address bar and it will ask you for a username and password. The default username is "leave it blank" and the default password is admin.

Rate me if this helps so i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya

I am trying to hook up a kindle. I have a D-Link Dir-615 router. When I try to connect, the kindle says that I need a password. I do not know how to open it other than changing the password which I do not...

Turn the DIR-615 router to its backside, where all the cables are connected. With the router still plugged in, use a paperclip or other small object to hold down the Reset button for 30 seconds. You can find the Reset button between the power connector and internet port.
admin is a default name there is no default password BUT BEWARE !!
Important: Resetting a router is different than restarting (rebooting) it. Resetting a router will remove all of its settings, not just the username and password. This means any wireless network settings, port forwarding options, etc. will be erased.
  1. Turn the DIR-615 router to its backside, where all the cables are connected.
  2. With the router still plugged in, use a paperclip or other small object to hold down the Reset button for 30 seconds.
You can find the Reset button between the power connector and internet port.
  1. Wait another 30-60 seconds to let the router finish booting back up.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router and wait 10-30 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cable back in and let it power on completely (which should take less than 1 minute).
  4. You should now have access to your DIR-615 router at http://192.168.0.1/ with the Admin username and blank password.
