I am trying to hook up my wifes dryer. It is maytag neptune, 4 yrs old. It has a 3 prong now, I need to go to a 4 prong. the wires are white, blk, grn, red. to which pole does each go. on the dryer, the poles have a white, blk, and multi colored pole, looks like a ground screw also.........thanks ...tom

You need a voltmeter to help us identify the voltage coming out of the new 4 wire ...we need to be sure in order to help you.
what is the voltage reading between white and black, white and red, black and red, green and white, green and black, green and red?
please post back. tnx, and on the old plug? what is the color of the muti-color wire? is it not a red?

The White cord wire goes in the center,
the Red on the Right,
the Black on the Left.
The green cord wire goes to the case or the external ground screw.
Light green wire is extra wiring given for some machine ,please connect the wiring as shown in this photo:
