Hi Error 1706 is a Microsoft error that is sometimes generated when you install a Windows package from some form of removable data. Examples of removable data would be a CD-ROM or a DVD. Typically, the exact text of Error 1706 will include the phrase "no valid source could be found."
One of the usual causes of this problem is that the Windows Installer or MSI file is not residing in the root folder of the media that is found on the removable data. This does not mean that the MSI file is not somewhere on the media -- just that it is not in the folder that your system is checking. While, in most cases, the Media Package Path would be altered to create a clear path to the MSI file.

thank you

MS vista and MS office 2007 installation

You install disk is corrupt (probably from a scratch on the disk), you can download a new copy to burn, making sure it passes the MD5 checksum after download is complete (and use your key during installation).

XP C-drive onto new mobo/cpu/ram gives 1706 errors on start-up

Did you undertake a "repair" of the XP installation..? You should repair the existing installation using your original install disk But don't use the Repair console option, Go past this option until the install program tells you that it has detected an existing installation and would you like to either repair this installation or re-install from scratch.. Choose the repair option. Once this has completed, you should then install the mainboard drivers and then, go to Windows update and install ALL the required updates. This method ensures that the old mainboard drivers are removed and the new ones, including updates are installed. If this fails for whatever reason, you may have no choice but to undertake a full re-installation of XP including a format of the drive (sorry).. Then, once you have done this, you will need to re-install MS Office again as the repair of XP will overwrite some of the data and DLL files belonging to MS Office..

Installing MS Office 97 Pro, if I have trial of 2007.

Hi there.
Providing the disk you had with your old computer has the product key with it you should have no problems at all installing it, just make sure you uninstall the MS office 2007 first before you install MS office 97.

Thanks for choosing FixYa!!

No Has Been Able To Solve This Office 2007 Pro Problem, Can You?

Hi,
The problem is the feature you tried istalling might have corrupted the OS. What you can try doing is create new user account first , restart your computer into the new user computer and then try installing. If the same still doesnot work , then my friend the only solution would be to reinstall windows xp and then put office 2007.

Thanks

Office 2007 Install Problems

It can be very aggravating to reinstall Office; you probably need to use the free removal tool that Microsoft provides for situations like yours. It may have nothing to do with Office 2007 and everything to do with whatever else you added via Add/Remove Programs. My best advice is patience; Office12 is huge, and takes a long time to put all its junk in there; Microsoft will walk you through it if you have patience with their tech support folks and time to wait on hold to reach someone. The good news is they get paid to sit with frustrated folks like you. If you can be more sprcific what the error message(s) say(s) that will help whomever could help you get to the root cause of your issue(s).

Unable to install ms office 2007, upgrading from Office 2003

Hi,
please first uninstall all the existing versions of MS Office. Then try to clean temporary files, cache and registry using tools like cCleaner (freely availavle), then install MS Office.

if you want to install only MS Office 2007, no need to install MS office 2003 and upgrade. directly install MS Office 2007.

If you want to keep both, pleas install MS office 2003 first, then MS office 2007, please dont uograde it, rather select Keep both version.

Please make sure that you have admin permission before doing all this and your system is free from any virus.
Thanks
