1995 honda odyssey starting problems

Van just stopped running after traveling along highway for two hours. Apprears to have spark, will crank over, ignition switch has gear shift locked into park position, and battery has over 12 Volts. Anyway to check fuel pump, crankshaft sensor or ECM for operation without gauges or computer device?

Hello! no light on the dash with no response when shorting the connector is beginning to look like a bad ECU...I hope not. There are a couple of test to perform first...Got a meter? Set it to read 5 volts...Using two safety pins push the point into the rear of the in place MAP connector (mounted to throttle body)..Wire colors are Green/white...Yellow/White...and White/Yellow...Push one pin into the Green/White (Ground)....The other into White/Yellow...(+) meter probe to White/Yellow..(-) probe to Green/White...turn on the key...Just to on...Meter must read 2.4 volts...If it does not, move the + probe with pin to the Yellow/White wire...Must read 5 volts...Send a comment...The TPS is also on the throttle body...Wire colors are...Red/Black...Yellow/Blue...and Green /Blue...Use the same technique...(+) probe to Red/Black...(-) probe to Green/Blue...Turn on the key...Must read less than 1 volt (.85)...If not ...Move the (+) probe to the Yellow/Blue wire...Must read 5 volts...If neither results are as required let me know...Saailer

Replaced the distributor and car started right up. Must have been a bad sensor or ICM module. Thanks for all your help.

Hello! in 1995 stored trouble codes used the On Board Diagnostic I software (OBDI)..Scanners will not work...The control unit LED can indicate any number of simultaneous component conditions by blinking separate codes, one after another...An instrument panel mounted indicator lamp will light and stay lit. If the lamp is on, or if a system malfunction is suspected even though the lamp is off, it is necessary to inspect the electronic control unit LED display. The LED display is on the ECM (ECU), which is located just below the RH side of the instrument panel. The indicator lamps operate whenever the ignition is On and a DTC is stored in the ECM (ECU) memory.
When an abnormality is detected the ECM (ECU) display blinks. The LED blinks a certain number of times, with the number of blinks indicating the number of the DTC. After the LED blinks a number of times there will be a two second pause and the LED will blink out the number of the next DTC..here are the codes..If there is a code send it to me...If there isn't a code I'll take it from there...guru.saailer

The ECM located under the RH side foot rest does not have an LED readout so I cannot determine any stored codes. The check engine light refuses to flash when the blue connectors under the dash are jumpered. To date I have replaced several ignition parts, but the van refuses to run. Plugs fire, but foul out and are wet with fuel. Timing belt and timing appear to be ok when checked.

The most likely cause is a crank shaft sensor.

My 1995 mercury cougar xr7 in the morning the fuel pump runs along time like a couple of minutes befor it shuts off so it will crank, but 5 hours later it cranks up fine.what is the problem?

Can you be more clear? The pump only runs for 2 seconds until the engine starts cranking and then it stops immediately when cranking stops.

1995 honda odyssey starts and then dies

Isince it cranks, means you have power, elctric system is ok! I guess.. this could be a result of gas delivery problem... either a pump or gas circuit controller.... OR a small propable reason if you have an immobilizer (electronic chip on key!)... but there should be the securit key highlithed on dashboard...

In addition to the blue smoke

A Honda is always worth servicing. The only time that you need to change the timing belt is if it breaks or the vehicle is almost at 200,000 miles on it. The blue smoke is a little worry some. But Honda's run forever and I feel like you should keep it

Transmission Fluid explodes out under hood.

this year of van had a recall for the transmission because the second gear was getting too hot. It required a dealer to install a special part that spliced into the transmission cooler lines and dumped fluid down the transmission fill plug hole and onto the second gear. Perhaps under high speed, the slice is leaking. Check to see if you have this part and see if the splice clamps are loose. If so, tightening them may help.

Engine Floods after brief start and run when cold -then shut off

Local mechanic determined engine was flooded and started it by holding throttle to the floor and cranking 5-7 seconds - then the engine sputtered to life. It has run perfectly before and since and I'm at a bit of loss to understand why this occurred this one time - so far. It's been driven now 5 days with no problems.
