•Note: Resetting your router to the factory defaults not only changes your gateway user name and password to the factory default values, but it also deletes all your home network settings. This includes the SSID and network encryption key. After you reset your gateway to the factory defaults, your home network won't be accessible until you reconfigure your router and all your network devices to use the same SSID and network encryption key.

To reset your VersaLink 327W gateway to the factory settings:
Hold the reset button on the back panel of the VersaLink gateway for 30 seconds.
•All your settings will be lost including network encryption information, MAC Address filtering information, and any SSID information you have entered.
•The gateway user name and password will revert to the default of Admin as the user name and Password as the password.
•You will need your user name or password to reconfigure the unit..

Your VersaLink 327W gateway is now using the default settings for the network configuration. This includes the default SSID and network encryption key. You must re-configure your VersaLink gateway to match your previous settings that were assigned to all other devices on your wireless network. Otherwise, no other network devices will be recognized.

The network key should be on a sticker on the bottom of the router

Cant find security key

If it's your router, you made the key. If it's not your router, stealing internet is a federal crime.
If you cannot remember the key then reset router to factory defaults.

Have good wirelesssignal, but wont allow me to browse the internet?

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you need the WEP key or Network Key you need to access the Wireless Settings Page.

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blankand the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Wep Key. The Network Key or Wep Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I got a new laptop and i have wireless internet but when i tried to connect my new laptop to it it said i need a password and i cant figure it out

The password is the encryption key in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router won't allow the laptop to connect to this wireless router.
The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

Router password is the password to access the router settings.
SSID is the network name. When you try to connect to the wireless network on your laptop, you will see this network name.
If your network is secured network then it will ask you for the network key or the password. You need to enter the ' security key '.

I cant access internet exp. from my laptop even with good signal

Access the preferred network settings (if you are using the Windows wireless setup - right click on the wireless icon + view available wireless networks + preferred networks) for your machine and edit the listing for your wireless network, you'll need to uncheck the box that says something to the effect of "an authentication key is provided for me" and enter your security key in the boxes provided.

If it still fails - you may want to remove your network from the preferred listing and add it manually, making sure that the authentication is turned off as described and with your security key entered twice.

Need a network key

Since you want to access the router setup page and get the wireelss security for your laptop you can try this:
Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.
You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is blank, and the password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
When you're already on the setup page of the router youc an go to Wireless tab and click on Wireless security and there you can find the security key that you need....

If the default password didn't work you need to reset the router by pressing the reset button for 15 seconds so it will be back to its default settings with default password which is admin.

But if you successfully log in to the router page just go to the Wireless tab and there you can find all the wireless settings of your router including the wireless security key...

Changed router settings and now unable to access the network and internet

Just reset the router (there should be a reset button somewhere on it) it will default to open system. Then go back in and select WEP with 64 or 128 bit security. Generate your KEY and next time it connects enter the KEY. You should be set to go!

Router & new laptop

Firstly you need to hard wire your internet line to your router and then your router to your pc. You cant really set it up unless they are "connected" physically. You need the SSID information and if you are going to be secure you need to set up a secret key/password key/secret phrase that each computer will have to have in order for the two devices to do the handshake and understand each other. Your security should be WEP, WPA, WPA2. Once hard wired you need to start an internet session and put the IP address of the router management console into your browser ie http://192.168.0.1 (refer to your manual for this and the admin password needed to access the console) Once in here you set your security type WEP etc and your secret key. (Think of this as your password/passphrase) On your pc you need to set your wireless networking device to have the same information. Then you can work wirelessly as long as all devices have the same information. There is no substitute for reading the book for this one though.
