    We have a Garmin nuvi 205 series gsp that tells us needs updating. We typed in the web adress and download was successful now what do we do we have a connection but just dont know what you do

The program that you downloaded was called WebUpdater. With your Garmin connected to your computer, just run the WebUpdater program (double-click it). It will install the update on your Nuvi.

To take advantage of mapshare, your maps must be version 6.75 or higher, and software version 7.xxx
You can also buy new maps.

In both cases, you will have to use the software TomTom Home.

Updated maps on my garmin nuvi 500 and used it in Belfast the last day. The road I was traveling on was not recognised by the garmin. Why would this be when I updated maps
If it was a new road it may be that it was not yet added to the map. If it was an older road it may have been left out of the map by mistake. You can report map errors to Navteq, who make the maps Garmin use, at http://mapreporter.navteq.com/?app.basemap=jsl
I know that may not be much use to you for now but it will be corrected in a later version of the map.

I have lost all my maps on m garmin nuvi 880. When I select one of my favorites it displays route calculation error. no roads near starting point. Also the display screen does not show any...
Try connecting it to your computer via a USB cable. Then log on to Garmin's webiste and download a map update. Then you can put the map update on your GPS to replace the ones you lost. All Garmin customers get one free map update. After than it's about $40-$60 dollars for an update.

How long does it take for new roads to appear on updates/downloads?
Navteq, who make the maps for Garmin and many other satnav makers, updates maps every 3 months or so. If they have been told of a new road it will generally appear on the next update unless it's reported too close to the release date. While most new roads are reported to them by the authorities you can report them yourself if you think it should have appeared on the maps by now.

Are your maps updated?

If so the road you on a new road that hasn't been programed into the maps yet?

Could be a few things going on, lost satelite, or a new road.... word to the wise Always carry a road map in your vehicle, GPS is a great tool but not always 100% right especialy if your on a new road, Maps are updated I believe every 6 months or more.

Updated to 2008 maps, now I lost my local roads and town maps
Turn on the Garmin. Look for the little wrench on the screen and select it. Now look for Map, select Map. Now look for Map Detail. Verify that it is set to "Normal" or Higher to get more map details.
