Did you fix your Rear Projection TV, I have the same problem...

I have the exact same problem on my Hitachi rear projection HDTV. It too is just over 1 year old and has the same red flashing or fluctuation in the red crt. Did you find the reason for this? I can find no solution so i'm hoping that you did and can help me. I do not have the exact same set, but I'll say the problem could be the same...

I have a rear projection phillips magnavox about 10 years old. it was only used probably about 3 years. When I turn it on it shows briefly AUG 1Y PB PR and thens goes off. Any suggestion?

The red crt board was cold soldered. I took it out, completely resoldered the entire board and have not had a problem since.

IS UR TV BULB DRIVEN IF NOT UR TV WILL NEED TO HAVE THE CONVERGENCE ADJUSTED

Hitachi 46f500 46 in problem double picture end two collor
This is symptom of convergence output chips failure in rear projection tv, replacement of convergence output chips will fix the problem.
Chips/ IC replacement requires soldering work in circuit board, if you are not familiar with electronics stuff fixing an soldering work, call local tv repairman to help you.

Your convergence ic's have to be replaced along with checking all the bias resistors for exact value. Easy for me! I don't know what your electronics background is?

I think it would likely work if you trimmed it evenly around the sides in order to maintain the central position. Focus may have to be adjusted but thats all.
