Lexmark 2500 the scanner does not work

The error message is 'you must place your origianl on the scanner before you can continue. I have followed all your instructions but still have the problem

Are you able to make copies? What error message are you getting when you try to scan?

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

Make sure the Lexmark X2500 scan software/driver is already installed in your computer. Here's the User's Guide for the Lexmark X2500 printer. Click on the link to download:

Lexmark 2500 series scanner problem

You need to initiate the scan from the pc not the printer
if you have macromedia fireworks or another visual editor it will work

also make sure you have all the proper drivers
