SONY TV KV-20S42 NO SOUND

Repairing a TV set is actually a skilled work. If you're not sound in electronics, make sure, that you can't do it; especially to Sony sets. Check the input fuse first. If it is blown, there will be some short inside the power regulator circuit. Usually Sony sets uses STR regulated power supply. You can see this STR, and Ic, screwed onto a heatsink. Replace it with a same type and number. Before replacing the STR, check the diodes used in that section for damage, mainlu zener diodes. They might get shorted along the blowing of the STR. Check that section throughly before resoldering the new STR.

it could be the signal strength for your cable isn't strong enough. alot of people are encoutering similar problems ever since the digital switch over

I once had this problem.I unplugged it for a few minutes then plugged it in it worked , but then i took it to repair it and everything was fine

check power supply and H.O.T
also 0.01 ceramic fusabl resistor.

Do you have its schematics or service manual? This kind of problem needs detailed schematic diagrams of related product. Let me know, are you Tech-Person or TV-Repairman?

I have had my Sony KV-32FV15 for about 2 years now and nothing has ever gone wrong(even going through several moves.) I recently moved again and when I plugged in the TV, you can hear the sound perfectly but the screen just stays black. You can not even hear the squeal that the TV makes when comming on. Is there anything that I should initially look at to troubleshoot. I cannot afford at this time the $250 fee to repair my TV. I look forward to your input and hopefully I can get this TV working again.

if the set has a previous vertical line problem and a white horizental line only comes in the cross of the screen and you turned the tv on for a time while the problem is solved that mean you have make a burnt line to the screen , but if you are the tv owner and nothing of that happens so you have a problem in faulty dried capaciter in the vertical live part search for 33uf 160 v or 22u 160 v and alter regards please don't forget to rate thx

I have a KV-27V55 and when I turn the TV on the picture and sound is good for about 30 minutes and then the picture goes off, but the sound is still on. It will come back on after a while.  What do I do?
