My problem is that the car over heats but not right away. When the car does start to over heat you can rev the car up at a high rpm and the gage comes down. But the more you drive the car the worse it does over heat, eventually the problem can't be solved by simply reving the car up. The over flow tank is completely full and I relplaced the thermostat.
Any suggetions?
I had a similar problem. Check the temp of the upper and lower radiator hoses. If the upper one is really hot and the lower is not then there might be an air pocket in the radiator. Check the coolant to see if it is dirty or not. I changed the coolant and thermostat and drove only about 5 minutes before it overheated and the coolant became very dirty. My problem was the head gaskets. I also tried changing the radiatir cap. Hope this will help

My water pump,timing belt and thermostat have been changed but my car overheats.The mechanic said the head gaskets didn't have to be changed.The refill tank gets filled up with boiling coolant.What could the problem be?
I had problems with oil leaks that I had repaired for $2000. Then my car overheated about 3 weeks later. I had stopped and noticed clouds of steam from under the hood and my temperature gauge was at max. When I restarted the car the steaming stopped and my temperature gauge dropped to zero in seconds. After an hour when I started up again it seemed OK, temp. at about midrange. Then it shot to maximum temperature again. Now though, I was not getting any heat from my air circulation system. I stopped and had the car towed to a Subaru repair center. They said I had a small leak in the hose to the radiator and that one of the head gaskets were now warped and had to be replaced. Cost $2500. Is the car worth all these repairs? It has been a pain from day 1 with alternator problems, tire problems and recalls, but this has been the worst.
