Have tried to blow it out also switch setting. everything else comes on and works but when I push record. very very seldom it might work but most of time it won't
It will not go into record mode. No error messages or anything. Thinking maybe it is just dirty or something and needs cleaned. Have been able to get it to record if I sit and play with the button long enough. It will not go into record mode. No error messages or anything. You have to explain what you mean by not recording. 1)Is it that the record nob is not working or the camera is writing check record tab or the camera is giving you error symbol PLS I WOULD WANT TO NO THE THE REAL PROBLEM

Have you tried holding in the timer button in for several seconds..? Some systems require pushing 2 buttons at the same time.. to disable timer.. and switching to manual reset..!
When you set the timer see if PDC appears. If it does switch it to off and try setting a record. PDC sometimes doesn't work. And the recorder will sit there waiting for the signal to tell it when to start recording. Which never comes! However you will have to set the time to adjust for it not recording late running TV shows. For example a show to start at 8pm and finish at 8.30pm, will need to be set at 7.59 till 8.35pm. Or you could miss the start or end! Wheras PDC would get it all even if it started at 8.05!
Inexpensive fix yes, but quite dangerous as you have to either replace the High voltage Diode or the magnetron depending on what has gone. Most often it is the Diode as that is fed a few thousand volts and anomolies such as a surge in current cause it to blow(popping sound) You can also check the fuses and if lucky it is just a fuse, but a fuse very seldomly just blows as it points to an underlying fault such as magnetron , capacitor or Diode. Have a service man attend to it unless you know what you are doing as you are dealing with lethal voltages and current even after the microwave has been switched off.
Indeed, I did the same thing.... I did find the answer in the manual! Here's a copy of it (pg 23):
Set the command mode for the remote so it matches the command mode for the recorder you set above. 1 Hold down ENTER 2 While holding down ENTER, enter the command mode code number using the number buttons. Command Mode Code number DVD1 number button 1 DVD2 number button 2 DVD3 number button 3 3 Hold down both the number buttons and ENTER at the same time for more than 3 seconds. 4 Let up, press RETURN, all done!
These models have a switch for 3 different modes of record. one where you press the red button once, one for having to hold the red button in and a 5 second record feature, check this mode. also check and make sure the tape you are using did not have the record save switch slid into record save position..
once you have set timer record, you must then put machine in standby mode, once in standby mode you will have a little timer display in panel, should then come on when time to record
It will not go into record mode. No error messages or anything. Thinking maybe it is just dirty or something and needs cleaned. Have been able to get it to record if I sit and play with the button long enough.
