Re: Dell Inspirion 1000 power short circuit
Good Evening:
Hope that you are wellJ
- There appears to be a shortage in one of your lines to you computer. But, before you replace anything, try these methods.
- Remove any CDs, DVDs or external storage devices (like USB keys or external hard drives) from the computer, if any are present, then press the power button to turn the computer on.
- Press and hold the <F8> key as your computer starts. You need to press <F8> before the Windows logo appears.
- If the Windows logo appears, and the system still fails to boot to Windows, shut down the computer and try again.
- From the Advanced Boot Options menu, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair Your Computer, then press <ENTER>.
- Click to select your language, and then click NEXT.
- Log in as a user with administrative rights, and click OK.
- From the Choose a recovery tool menu, click Startup Repair .
-
- Once completed, click FINISH.
-
- Click RESTART.
If I can be of further assistance, please let me know
And, remember; always include the type of Operating System and the type of computer you own, when you submit your questions. It simply makes for much faster solutions.
Have a wonderful weekend.
This a Dell Inspirion 1000 running XP. Unfortunately your fix did not work. I have seen posts on this same problem on the Dell users forum. It appears to be a cable problem from the board to the screen; why that would keep the computer from starting up, not sure, but that seems to be the cause.
