I'm looking for two things. First, does anyone know where I can download a pdf verson of the owners manual for this chainsaw? I bought it new back in 1976 and it still operates great. I've misplaced the owners manual however. Second, what is the oil/gas ratio for this saw?
thanks, [email protected]
I have an old McCULLOCH MAC 10-10 chainsaw that takes 40-1 gas. Take the metal air filter cover off, and look on the inside of it, it should tell you all the info you need like starting it, what kind of gas etc,etc
32:1 is the correct ratio.
40:1 with Genuine McCulloch Oil. I'm a small Engine Technician of 40 years and have owned a pro mac 10-10 and have always run that mix and some 30+ years later she is still running beautifully. Keeping up services is the key to any Small Engine. With today's oil's like Stihl HP Ultra, 50:1 is fine. HP Ultra is a fully Synthetic Oil. I stock and sell it and another very good 2-Stroke Oil - Echo's Powerblend is also a great Semi Synthetic oil and with today's modern engines it's fine at 50:1 also.

I was researching for a manual for a different McCulloch chainsaw and I found this link to an owner's manual. I am not sure if it will work for you or not.

Look at the date please. The majority are over a year old.

The quality of the fuel lubrication is the greatest dilemma with respect to compression (the octane number) and combustion emissions to make, together with the carburetor setting together the mixing ratio and by a lot of changes over time with the use of the latest technology concerning the alkylate fuel nowadays on high compression technology (thinking of the new machines with the decompressor by hand to push to start).
When older machines are used to alkylate fuel like Stihl motomix otherwise aspen T2, then the oil-ratio of the machine looks incorrect, but can be used basically fine without damage as long as the L-H adjustment is correctly adjusted, the H adjustment ( full throttle) must be adjusted significantly richer so that the engine speed decreases by H brisk outwards until it is sound 4-strokes and L adjustment so that the throttle speak properly so well reacts on the throttle.
Some were 32:1, some 40:1, I've even seen 16:1! 50:1 with premium fresh gas is the new standard. Mix a gallon or two at a time only so it doesn't go stale in a month, pour the unused in your car, and you'll be just fine.
Hi, i was trying to find a manual for a mcculloch pro mac 850, to no avail. but try this site for the other models manual, eg. mcculloch pro mac 61. heaps better than that stupid/slow iscribe site... and you can actually view the file properly.
OR
try the 'chain saw collectors corner' http://www.acresinternet.com/
