I recently bought a brand new Wildcat Realizm 200 and I would like to flash the GPU BIOS to the latest version. How should I go about doing that?

I have the latest drivers for the card, and Age of Empires III still isn't working, so I figured I would try a GPU BIOS flash to update it.

The GPU doesn't have a BIOS. BIOS stands for Basic Input / Output System. It's what your computer hardware looks at right after the POST. (Power-On Self-Test). Flashing the BIOS can be risky, if there is a power outage while it's updating or doesn't completely update your motherboard will be useless. I highly do not recommend flashing the BIOS. What I would do is update the driver. Keep in mind that only certain graphics cards work on certain machines. Intel CPUs only work with Nvidia GPUs. and AMD CPUs only work with AMD cards. It's hard to pinpoint your problem because I'm not looking at the computer.

this GPU does have a flashable bios:http://www.3dlabs.com/legacy/Datasheets/...

and as I mentioned, I have the latest drivers from the 3dlabs website. I am dealing with an old computer, so I have no problem performing any risky procedures

Have you looked at the specific game's system requirements?

yes, the specs of this card blow my old card out of the water. the old card (nvidia geforce mx 440) ran the game adequately, despite having the minimum recommended 64mb of memory. based on my searches, it seems that I am the only one who has had this problem.

ECS G31T-M7 v1.0 always getting error flash part is not supported when updating bios. Any solutions for this?

If your motherboard is ECS G31T-M7 v1.0, it may not be compatible with the Radeon R7 240 GPU that you purchased. You should check the manufacturer's website for the list of compatible GPUs and also check the specifications of your motherboard to see if it supports the GPU.
If your motherboard is indeed compatible, it is possible that the error message "flash part is not supported" is due to an outdated BIOS. In this case, you should try updating your BIOS to the latest version using the ECS Live Update Utility or the BIOS update utility provided by your motherboard manufacturer.

Mobo: p5g41c-mlx GPU: Asus GTS 450 1GB - - not compatible or am I just missing something?

old P5 mobo G41, Asus has super good support as does Gigabyte
so the GTS fails in BIOS too? what happens not told at all.
BIOS screens are first. and set BIOS to PCI GPU mode.
do not use UEFI at all. or TPM ever.
not overclocking , RIGHT?
the card uses chip 450 made in , September 13, 2010
so is 12 years old. and will work on any old PC, before year 2012
fails on class 3,UEFI new PCs sure. but yours is not
the GPU uses 106watts of power and the rear power jack called +12vPCI , is not connected to the PSU the card WILL FAIL for the lack of AUX power to that jack on rear of card GPU. 6Pin or 8.
2010 gpu in 2008 mobo is not ever hard to do ,but not resetting bios page 1. is never good , doing all this , reset bios defaults,
nor hot swapping the card with AC power connected to the wall.

the old P5 is only one, X16 slot so no errors there. possible 1 slot.

.
so you flashed the GTS to ***** why in the world flash any gpu card.? (panic?)_
looking to brick it?
wow flashed the mobo and gpu card, now that is brave.

why think flashing is the holy grail of PC service, it is not
it is basics, most errors like this are basics.(wrong)
power is first not last , 106 watts is 31 watts too much for any PCI-e slot and some PC the silly slot is under rated... making AUX 2 times more important.

Corsair CX450
not 450m modular?
the 450 has those old lame now 4pin molex PATA drive power cables for year 2001 PC, why us this dog.? and not modern PSU.
yes the cx has
PCI-Express Connector 1 x 6+2-Pin
and
EVGA has like 25 models of 400watt PSU. so can not read your manual on it to see if it has this key cable
PCI-Express Connector 1 x 6+2-Pin

see left jack 8 and 6 , the GPU needs 1 or the other OR WILL FAIL.
power is first, no flashing any bios.
I call them GPU AUX power, and are not optional ever if seen on the card.
atx-spec-molex-undefined-undefined-0.png other cause of failure for sure bios menus dead in mobo are they?
1: that 12 year old mobo coin cell is NO GOOD that be first./first
1b:above power cable not connected. to GPU.
2: turn off all UEFI features in MOBO this card is not UEFI certified.
3: reset mobo bios in bois page one.
4: never turn on TPM in bios.
5: do not use bios secure boot.
6: set time and date in bios
7: never hot swap any parts inside this PC, (ac cord pulled from wall first)
8: flashed it and bricked like millions did this year, why?

How to flash bios ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77

I am not sure why you would be required to flash the bios in order to change the ram socket configuration. Bios flash is done only if you have a new version of Bios to install.
In your case you need to go into the Bios (either press DEL key at time of power on or F1 key) Once in Bios select Advance and RAM setup.
You can download the BIOS and all other manuals and drivers for you motherboard from this site.

Just got a brand new gigabyte motherboard, when i shutdown the pc it wont reboot. when the power switch is pressed nothing happens no fans, led, nothing. the board is a ga-990fxa-ud3,cpu- amd phenomII...

Hi Orville,

Your problem is all about your motherboard you need to updated to BIOS firmware to solve your problem.

Go to the gigabyte website then go to your motherboard page and download and updated to the latest firmware for your bios.

Steps in flashing BIOS
How to Reflash Motherboard BIOS About updating BIOS... The whole BIOS updating procedure should be treated with extreme caution. If you do not encounter any system instability or bugs with the current BIOS version, we suggest that you keep it. If you determine to flash BIOS, you are taking a personal risk of BIOS flash failure. Please contact your supplier or our distributors/resellers for further remedy in case system crashes unfortunately because of BIOS flash failure. Before you begin... 1. Please make sure the BIOS version you want to flash matches your motherboard model. 2. If your BIOS is flash protected, please do not enable BIOS Flash Protection under Advanced CMOS Setup (AMI BIOS) or Advanced BIOS Features (AWARD BIOS) in BIOS menu. 3. Never interrupt when you BIOS is being updated. 4. Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. To flash the BIOS, do it with caution. Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction. Three BIOS Flash Utilities... We provide three BIOS flash utilities at our website. Below are the overviews. 1 : flashbios_qflash.gif A BIOS flash utility embedded in Flash ROM. Not all motherboards have the Q-Flash, please use @BIOS or DOS flash utility to update BIOS if your motherboard does not have Q-Flash. Features-- With this utility, you only have to stay in the BIOS menu when you want to update BIOS. No need to enter DOS or O.S. mode. Caution-- Make sure you have a functional floppy disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard. UEFI - Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif 2 : flashbios_atbios.gif A Windows-based BIOS live update utility. Features-- @BIOS helps you search for, download, and then update the latest BIOS in Windows operating system. Caution-- Make sure your O.S. environment is stable. UEFI - Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif 3 : DOS Flash utility Features-- The flash utility is a combination of AMI and AWARD BIOS flash utility. You can use it with both AMI and AWARD BIOS. Caution-- Make sure you have a functional DOS boot disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard.

I hope my solution may help you.
Thanks for using Fixya...;-)

Bios update can resolve lack of fan's control?

Probably not as you can only flash your BIOS from the manufacturer, so that is probably the latest version they produce since you got it recently. Under no conditions do I recommend trying to flash BIOS from someone other than the orignal manufacturer as any mistake will cause your computer to become unbootable.

775Dual-880 Pro cannot detect SATA HDD 320gb

if you bought this board brand new, take it back and tell them the sata controllers in the bois are not sufficent and get one that is. If you got it second hand then you will need to update or flash the bios to the latest version. see if that works and the drive is recognised. if it is recognised via flash/update you may still run into problems if you try to install XP

Battery failure

Yes perhaps you can be sure if you BIOS up to date. latest version of BIOS is v1.20. This version has several important fixes including critical battery wake up. You can obtain the BIOS from Toshiba support website. I am adding the direct link for your convenience.
http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1721794xml&sliceId=&dialogID=30999201&stateId=0%200%2030995558

BIOS update is a critical process that you should close other applications and make sure computer is on AC power. the update process takes few minutes.

If the Issue persists after BIOS update you can think about replacing the battery, Just to remind you that usually brand new laptops warranty covers the battery for a year. So you have said that its only 11 months, you can think about using warranty.
