I have the latest drivers for the card, and Age of Empires III still isn't working, so I figured I would try a GPU BIOS flash to update it.
The GPU doesn't have a BIOS. BIOS stands for Basic Input / Output System. It's what your computer hardware looks at right after the POST. (Power-On Self-Test). Flashing the BIOS can be risky, if there is a power outage while it's updating or doesn't completely update your motherboard will be useless. I highly do not recommend flashing the BIOS. What I would do is update the driver. Keep in mind that only certain graphics cards work on certain machines. Intel CPUs only work with Nvidia GPUs. and AMD CPUs only work with AMD cards. It's hard to pinpoint your problem because I'm not looking at the computer.
this GPU does have a flashable bios:http://www.3dlabs.com/legacy/Datasheets/...
and as I mentioned, I have the latest drivers from the 3dlabs website. I am dealing with an old computer, so I have no problem performing any risky procedures
Have you looked at the specific game's system requirements?
yes, the specs of this card blow my old card out of the water. the old card (nvidia geforce mx 440) ran the game adequately, despite having the minimum recommended 64mb of memory. based on my searches, it seems that I am the only one who has had this problem.
