Why does my dt125r 2001 stall at high revs

I have recently switched to pre-mix (25/1) and all was well for a few hours of riding, but last time i went out she would not rev-out. she started fine, idled fine, but as soon as the power band came in she started to missfire then stalled. checked the plug, coverd in oil. my mate recons its too much oil in the mix, understandable but she ran fine for 2 tanks of the same mix???? is oil plug fouling something you would notice first time out,or is it somthing that takes time to build up? its defenatley oil related and im hoping its not something more serious....... any help would be awsome, cheers!

thanks for the reply, i have drained the tank replaced the 25/1 for 32/1 mix. spent about 3hours or so pulling the plug out ,cleaning,re-starting...should i carry on? or should she have sorted herself out by now? the plug does look much less oily now, but she's still cutting out. my mates are now saying too much air,i dont think there are any leaks pre-egnition,although i do have a small hole in the expantion chamber just off the manifold. does anybody know which area i should concentrate on, i will fix the hole in the exhaust although it has been there for about 2years and never been a problem. the process of elimination could cost mony on parts i didnt realy need, and probably a lot of time. any sugestions welcome. (within reason)

If the mix ratio was the problem, it should have sorted itself by now. The next thing I would try is a substitute coil, ( You should try to start the bike with the Spark plug resting on the engine case, and watch the plug gap, there should be a spark) if there is no spark try changing the plug first- it's cheap. Make sure you get the correct one for your bike though, You could also change the air filter at the same time. this will eliminate another source of concern. It is a lot easier to fix these things when they are in front of you, but this will have to do for the time being. Don't hesitate to contact me if these ideas don't work. Good luck.

I have just recalled another thing it may be, on your bike there is an exhaust valve, these can seize due to carbon build up, if you feel happy you could open it up and remove the carbon with a brass brush( this will prevent the brush from scratching the valve faces)

hi,i have checked the plug, good spark and sarts no problem..... when you say exhaust valve do you mean the power valve? i may have neglected to mention that i have locked the power valve open since my battery died(about 6 months ago)and the servo stoped working. i only use my bike off road these days so didnt see the need to replace it. one thing i think is worth a mention is that when i tinkerd last time i took the blanked oil feed pipe off to make sure there was no oil left in the pipe to be draged into the mix. there wasnt but the point is when i re-started the bike i forgot to replace the pipe, and she ran much better draging in extra air. i ran her for about 15min like that, reving out no problem. I know i cant ride her like, that but as soon as i replaced the pipe and cut off the extra air, revs droped right down to the point of stalling turned the tic-over screw so she would idle, but no way is she willing to rev up, so not enough air??? have cleaned the air filter, carb looks o.k, should i check the reeds? sorry about the esay, but the more info i can give the better.

The Power valve may still be blocked even if it is locked open. (2 strokes rely on tuning of both the intake and exhaust.) if the engine runs right with extra air then it sounds as if the idle jet is blocked or the filter is blocked, try and get the carb cleaned. It is easy enough to do- as long as you remember that the parts have to go back in the same place and that the holes in the carb for fuel or air are exactly the right size, so you have to be careful not to damage the internals. If you dot ake it to bits, lay it out as you dis-assmeble it, it will go back together easier that way. good luck.

Drain the tank and switch to a 32 /1 mix. I take it you have disconnected the oil feed to the carb from the 2 stroke tank, if not then your mix contains too much oil. Only switch to 32 / 1 if the oil tank has been disconnected. I hope this helps.

I've got a 2001 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic that I thought I prepared well for the winter. I added fuel stabilizer to a full tank last last fall. I got one small but issue free ride yesterday, but today...

Some times the fuel stabilizer can make it back fire so constantly top up your tank until you run all the old mix gas thru just keep diluting the fuel with fresh stuff, also be sure to use only high test fuel and mabe check your plugs out as well for fouling those are the cheapest ideas you can try for now!

Bought a 2002, 750 gsxr, rode it for an hour, then the bike just stalled at a red light, charged it and the same thing happened after riding a while, is the battery not being fully charged by the bike?

sounds like the battery either not holding a charge start the bike run a multi meter across the battery whilst giving a few revs and it should read between 13 and 14 volts if it reads this then its dfinatly the battery but if the voltage does not go up with increased revs first thing would be the regulator rectifier last thing the most exspensive would be the alternator hope this helps

Never overheated (and still not certain I did) BUT Sat nite(Feb 6 2010) after a run about 20 miles the 2001 venture started to loose ground like it was runnning outta gas. HAd plenty. It was -10 C outside,...

One of your intake manifold gaskets went bad and it is sucking in air where it should'nt be. This problem is very common on this motor. I'm 100% sure that is what it is. But no ofense if you can't figure out how to get your radiator cap off , then this job is probably a little much for you.

2001 dodge grand caravan stalls

Check the sensors on the throttle body. There is a sensor that controls air to fuel ratio. If that sensor is bad then the car will run and then stall out while in drive. I had the same problem when it was cold outside last winter. If you dont want to dish out the money without knowing if it is that part at fault or not then start the van pop the hood and located the throttle body. Place your hand on the sensors and give them a little shake and then make sure they are plugged in all the way. You could also turn the van off and unhook the sensor clean the connectors and plug it back in. That should do the trick and if it doesnt stall anymore then I would replace those sensors if I was you. One more thing. If your giving the sensors a tug while the car is running and you hear it going to stall you could located the gas pedal cable and give it a rev or two by hand so it doesnt stall out and turn off. By the way. You van isnt over heating at all is it?
