Are you saying that if you try to make a copy or scan, when opening the scanner bed cover, the bulb is not lit? If this is the case, then the scanner light "bulb" has gone defective now. Lexmark does not have a replacement for that part, you can try to have it repaired from 3rd party shops, otherwise, it's time to replace your printer.
