The filter access looks compleetly differnt to the pictures in the manual, there's a circle plastic bit at the bottom left of the machine with a horizontal slot in the middle, but since the machine is new I dont want to force this off unless I'm supposed to, tried inserting a coin in the slot and turning but it wont shift, also tried prising up from the bottom, but worried might break it.

If you are certain that your washer has no filter at the front behind the lower removable panel, it is usually held on by 3 scews which you have to undo, or just held in place with plastic lugs, then you will have to remove the lower rear cover of washer. Locate large black hose at lower right of tub, remove clip and hose.
inside you will see the plastic filter,
Remove and clean filter, refit filter and plastic ball if it has one, refit hose and clip securely, and water test for leaks.
Be careful when you remove hose as there will be water run out.
Please make sure you have it unplugged before you do all this.
Plz rate my solution, and feel free to leave any comments.
Thanks.

Power off the mains. The
filter is located behind the silver plate at the back of the machine at
the
bottom. Four screws hold it on. Drain
out all the water. The filter is inside
the big black rubber hose attached between the pump and the main drum.
Remove
the plastic clip holding it to the pump unit and then the metal cir clip
holding it to the main drum. Inside is a white molded cone and a big
white ball
which floats. You will find a lot of junk here, clean out thoroughly. To
refit
put white cone back inside just as you found it, at the bottom, fit ball
back
into the cone. Attach to the bottom to the drum and re-fasten the cir
clip.
Finally reconnect the gator to the pump unit and tighten the plastic
clip. Check out the pump too before reconnecting.
And rate me nice pl for the
free help!

There are two places a coin could be that will cause a noise. Either in the basket under the nutator or in the pump. If you hear the noise after the basket stops from the spin, look under the nutator, if you hear it during the cycle, check the pump. If you only hear the noise during the agitation, not the spin cycle, you may have a u-joint going out.

Before removing the filter have you drained the excess water with the drain hose to the left of the filter? The filter cap should turn around 1/4 to 1/2 turn so the best option is to close it again and then repeatedly try opening it with a little more force each time. The black plastic cage could affect the removal of the filter and once removed if it is damaged you may need to replace it. These are available via most domestic appliance spares stores or directly from Bosch. Once removed check for any black plastic debris in the filter housing and chamber.

I have the same problem but it has 4 rivets in the kickplate not 2 screws
I finally got to the filter! Don't worry about breaking the circular plastic bit, it's just a cover. If you somehow get some purchase on it via the slot, it will twist off. It's probably stiff if it's new or has never been opened. I had to get my brother to do it for me!
I agree that the diagrams in the manual are COMPLETELY different.
