SOURCE: RCA DRC8300N DVD Recorder / VCR Combo manual
Gary. The DRC8335 User Manual is no longer available on Thompson's official support site. But fortunately a few of us downloaded it a year or more ago before it was pulled!
I tried uploading the manual to Fixya several times including just a short while ago. It seemed to upload successfully, but after performing a Fixya search it's still nowhere to be found, just like many others I've uploaded in the past.
But don't worry! You can download it NOW from my personal User and Service Manual archive on OwnerIQ using the hotlink below.
OwnerIQ encrypts all filenames within our personal folders for security purposes which ends-up making them rather unreadable. For this reason, please rename it back to my original filename appearing in blue in the hotlink just below when the download completes
Respectfully, Mike Adams

Yah, you're going to be taking that in for repair. I worked for couple of years at RCA / Sony / Panasonic / ... and 60 more names - service center. When a VHS Cassette loading mechanism doesn't work - it probably needs loading motor or loading gear, something repaired. At the cost of DVD and VHS combos these days I'd call it Not Worth Repair (NWR) out of the starting gate. At least $50 an hour, at least 2 hours ... that's beyond the cost of a new one.

I see RCA no longer has any manuals for that unit. But, is this the exact model number? I mean like I have an RCA DRC8335 VCR/DVD recorder, so I am wondering if it is similar? If so I could work out something for you. Email me at [email protected] if you think I can help with my manual.

The processor is unable to load the firmware and it gets stuck. Only two things can cause that:
1 - the firmware has been corrupted. The only way to fix that is thru a low level update - the EPROM (the chip in which the firmware is loaded) must be accessed directly for programming and that can only be done by a dealer, they are the only ones that have the special tool and program needed. It will be expensive.
2 - the processor itself has died. In that case the recorder has died - the only way to fix that is to replace the entire motherboard and that will cost you more than a new one.
In either case it will cost you a lot so better junk this one, for the same price you will end with a new one, not a repaired one.
