As long as this is a sewing machine and not a serger, I don't know about them. I only tinker on my own. Remove the bottom. There is a rod running along the length of the machine. it needs to be turned 180 degrees. You may need to retime the machine.

Can u do normal straight stiching with ovetlocker model 686 elna?

No. A serger is not made to do straight stitching. However, you can accomplish the look of straight stitching as long as it is on the edge of fabric. The serger trims fabric from the edge and encloses the raw edge with thread.

If you want straight stitching, you need a sewing machine. Go to a sewing machine repair shop and ask if they have an inexpensive old mechanical sewing machine...like an old Singer, White, Necchi, Kenmore--the old metal kind.

I got the Sliding Buttonhole Foot for my Kenmore Sensor 70 Model 385-19950180 but the manual has little information on how to use it. Is there a video where I can learn?

There are a lot of videos on YouTube. Just search for something like: sewing machine buttonhole

Most sliding buttonhole accessories work the same from machine to machine.

How old is my sears Kenmore sensor sew 70 model# 3851950180? Iwould like to know if it can be repaired

Almost any machine CAN be repaired, but it may not be worth the money to get it repaired and with older machines finding parts can be a real problem.

If you call Sears and tell them the model and serial number they should be able to tell you the age of the machine, and whether or not they are still willing to repair a machine like it. They may not have parts though.. sometimes independent repair shops are a better bet. Ebay is often a good source for old machine parts too.

Bobbin thread bunching on singer sewing machine...have changed needle and tensions! Help

Try a ball point 11/70 or stretch 11/70 needle. Also rethread the entire machine. Make sure the needle is inserted correctly in the sewing machine. I had this same thing happen to me recently and I found I had the needle backwards.
