How do i clear system error E100 on an IR 10181 canon machine and what may be causing this error?

While what Dimitri said is true, you can also check the drum unit. There is a flag on the left rear(when holding it by the handles)that actuates the laser shutter. if the flag is missing the shutter doesn't open there for you get an E100 error. Could be as easy as replacing the drum.
