Where is the device ownership password on my dell inspiron 6000

When i try to use the intel wireless utility, it asks me to type in a "device ownership password" before i can do anything else. help, i cant use wireless

in this case just uninstall the driver for the wifi card and reinstall it ...If you do not have the driver you will find it on the support site of the manufacturer...just type Dell support and on the site ..locate the model in the download area ..and choose the operation system you have installled and download the driver ...After that go to the device manager and uninstall the wireless card and reinstall the new driver ..this way you will get read of the passwords..
in case that the password is from the network you try to log into ...than you have to get it from the admin of the network...

Wireless will not accept key or password using intel pro set wireless

Hello.

To find the key you need to log into the router. In a browser, type http://192.168.2.1 (depending on your network, this could be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) in the address bar. A username and password box will appear. Try leaving them blank or key in Admin with a blank password. Look for wireless setup. Just browse through and you'll see the WEP key or passphrase. Then, change the key.

You can get all this info if you go to Start-> (type) RUN, then (type) CMD. Then type ipconfig. Whatever your gateway number is that is the number to your router

While trying to add another computer to my wireless connection, it asks for a Device Ownership Password but it will only allow numerical digits (8). Help?

Using Intel ProSet Wireless, right? Use Windows utility and it will be fine. I still have not resolved this with ProSet.

DELL E6400 Connect to wireless Modem problem

I have the EXACT same problem on the same computer.
I'm not an expert so I searched online but didn't really find a lot of responses to this Dell issue. One suggestion was to turn off Intel PROset and let Windows manage the wireless connection.
That worked for me.
When in the Intel PROset menu, click on Advanced, then click on "Let windows manage your wireless set-up."
Alternatively, you can toggle between the two software by pressing F10.
This solution worked for me.

Inspiron 6000 has trouble picking up wireless signal

Some wireless cards are better than others at picking up weaker signals.
The problem with any wireless transmissions is that radio signals cannot pass through metallic surfaces.
You should position your wireless router away from metallic surfaces/walls and position your laptop so it can receive the radio signals without it passing through any metallic walls. If possible place the wireless router higher than at desk level.

Adding Dell to Airport extreme

You wireless card can be controlled 2 ways, the card Wireless Utility (Dell Wireless or Intel Wireless Utility are the normal default ones) and the "Windows Zero Config" Windows wireless utility. You may need to go in to the Dell/Intel Wireless utility, and select "Let Windows Manage My Wireless" You should then get a popup saying wireless networks are available, click that balloon, select your network, and click connect. If secure, at that point you'll be prompted to type the passkey. If you are using an older Wireless card, it may only support WEP security. Vista and newer systems use a newer protocol, WPA.
