You'll need to check the circuit from the fuel pump relay back to the pump. The computer grounds the relay. If the pump is running the filter could be clogged.
Make sure you can hear your fuel pump turning on, put your key in the ignition and it turn it to the ON position without turning the engine over, if you can't hear it from inside the truck have a friend put their head near the gad tank and listen for it. ( no sense in your doing it, you have a key to turn :P ). Even though it's a new pump it could have still failed.
If the pump is coming on then replace your fuel filter, when your tank was run dry, any debris in the tank could have gotten sucked into the lines by the pump, then clog the filter.
The Fuel filter sits behind the frame rail directly below the driver's door.
The tools you will need are metric, 15, 16 and 20 mm wrenches. LOTS of
rags to catch the runoff fuel. Pack the area around the tubing and the
filter with rags so when you break the fittings loose, the fuel won't
run down your arm and the driveway.
The bolts that hold the filter to the frame, should be sprayed with
WD-40 before you start. There is one strap that holds the filter that is
very tight.
There is also a wire loom that should be moved and most likely you will
break the plastic holders, use your imagination with zip ties, or go by
the actual parts to replace the plastic holders
If you hit the tank and it ran? The fuel pump is bad. By striking the tank you jarred the pump, causing what mechanics call "The last ride" Peice of sound advise, Replace with ac delco pump. The zone pumps go out usaly within months if not days
Had same problem with a Yukon. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump (Won't show codes.) When cold ran fine, heated up, no pressure. Would start after sitting for about 1/2 hour. When engine dies on you check for fuel pressure under the hood.
