Format/restore computer to factory settings

I have an NEC Versa L2200 laptop and i want to restore factory settings, i wasnt given a disc to do this when i bought the computer, how do i do this?

    need to restore but no f11 opition is givin at the start up just f10 and f12 and no cd HELP

    I'm trying to restore my NEC Versa Laptot (L22) series to it's factory default settings but F12 is also not working for me - it just gives me a blank, black screen.

Press F11 at system startup to get to the NEC recovery menu. From there, you can restore your factory settings. However, a "destructive" recovery will wipe the hard drive, including your personal files. Best to back those up first before performing the recovery.

I've heard this works sometimes

Shut down the laptop then remove the battery and cable for a moment, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds and replace the battery. Start the laptop again.

I want to restore to factory state but boot cd won't work
I think your hard drive which is a SATA drive, needs to be formatted specially for Vista.
you need to find out the make and model of your hard drive,and then you can download a hard drive formatting utility program from the hard drive manufacturers website.
The hard drive is accessed from under the keyboard on this model.
