Some have a plate on the interior of the oven that can be removed for easy bulb replacement but if yours does not you will have to remove the entire outer covering to access the bulb. If you have a combination microwave/Range vent you will have to remove the entire unit from the cabinet, then remove the outer cover, replace the bulb and re-install the combination unit.

You'll have to remove the oven from its cavity, remove the rear panel and access the light bulb socket from there.

My GE Advantium Microwave first had the cook top light go out. I replaced the bulb and it worked for about a week. The control panel went haywire, and then the interior light went out. I have replaced...

In this case, you have to check the control panel. There might be wire connections and contacts that loosens. The bulbs inside the oven is connected to a switch that that only functions once the oven is in closed position.

The bulb light inside the microwave went dead with the microwave working perfectly...how do I replace the bulb?

Replacing the cavity light requires taking off the outer wrapper to access the bulb. Nothing easy or magical just an exercise in patience.

GE MIcrowave model JVM1631BJ01 hood lights won't work

The part that controls that is goes through your control panel on your microwave. For the lights to come on to start with the door being closed switches have to be working right and when you press start the lights come one. When the microwave is through cooking and you open then close the door then the lights should go out. The logic IC on the control panel board that detects all these events is not being reset correctly. Unless you get a microwave tech to track down the component on the control panel circuit board it is not something that you could do on your own since it takes voltage and signal checks with the proper equipment and then some soldering and desoldering of the defective component(s). Good luck and God bless.

Need new light bulb socket for GE spacemaker mircrowave

The bulbs are glued in at the factory. Unplug the microwave and see if you can remove the base of the bulb from the socket with needle nose pliers. You may have to twist the heck out of the bulb base but it should come out. If you do need a new socket it is available at www.geappliances.com under parts and accessories. Or call 1-800-626-2002 for GE factory parts

Burning smell and light switch does not work

The controller needs to be repaired. We regularly repair these control board assemblies for only $32.50 nationwide, and that's much cheaper than replacing the board. For safety, disassembly and other info see http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
