It is not the toner. We have 2 docucolor 240 machines and run the same toner in both. I think that it is either the toner dispense motor or the auger. If anybody knows how to check/get to these parts, I would be appreciative of that knowledge. It is not the toner. We have 2 docucolor 240 machines and run the same toner in both. If you have an extra black toner cartridge, try installing that and see if it fixes the problem. If it doesn't make sure Toner Save Mode is off (in the print driver, under Preferences). If your copies still come out gray instead of black, you may need to replace the Print Head Unit (PHD).
Maybe your toner cartridge is bad. Or the transfer roller might be very dirty. When was the last time your poor printer had a maintenance kit installed?
Please check your printer setup. from the document you are printing. Choose the printer from the FILE menu (depending on what program you are running) Printer SEtup or Properties, somewhere you will find an option, Print in color? or Black, Click on the Black., come out of the menu and then print, I am pretty sure you have chosen color. Hope this will fix your problem.
its the problem of connecting cable.and other error 212 is for internal circuit board error.you will have to contact xerox service center and get the resetter for this online.or if its board problem you will have to order the parts. http://www.office.xerox.com/multifunction-printer/color-multifunction/docucolor-240-250/sprt-enus.html

I wish someone would REALLY solve this, but I've found two (time-consuming!) workarounds:
1) Despite using plain paper, tell it you're using "Matte Photo Paper" (this is necessary in order to...) then set the print quality to the next-to-highest level (default is middle of five quality levels). The doc will print in black as it should, not grey.
2) Instead of the above, use the printer dialogue option to print to a PDF file; then open the pdf and print it. It will print in black, not grey!
either it could be set in the printer properties to print in gray scale or it could be the lens of the printer that needs replacement as if the lens go weak the prints come out very light.
Hi,
If you moved the printer, make sure the conections from the printer to the Fiery are secure. If loose the prints will be black but when copying will be fine.
