Maytag stactable wash/dryer LSE7806Ace

Dryer "clunks" when starting and when "stops."  Large belt around drum seems to not catch to whatever is behind face plate on lower left of unit.  How can I access this unit on the lower left below the drum.
Or do you think something else is doing the "Clunk."

I was thinking maybe the blower wheel because the belt seems to slip when starting and stopping the dryer.  When you say "rear bearing" so you mean the wheel on the back left of the dryer?  Also do you know how I access the inside of the dryer.  It is stackable and the dryer is on top and I can't seem to get to the "guts" of the unit? Thanks

Same problem here as described by the other member. Sounds like the belt has loosened. I'll be watching this thread -- thanks for the input!

I have a similar problem with my dryer Maytag LSE 7806 ace. It continuosly "clunks" loudly as it drys. I have opened the front, but haven't a clue as how to get access to the innards or what to look for. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Maytag lse7806ace drum not turning

The drum turns on a belt. If you can see behind you can see if the belt is broken or just off of the motor. If the belt is in place you may have a bad motor.

The belt is still attached to the transmission right?? It sounds like the brakes may be stuck. Or are both belts off and the motor still trips out?

Are you sure that you hooked the belt up correctly, as it sounds like you may have missed the tensioner pulley. As this will tighten the belt around the middle of the drum

How do I replace the dryer belt on a maytag dryer model #pye2300ayw. How do you connect to the pulley and get the belt around the drum?

lift the hood by pushing in clip on either side. remove two screw at top inside to remove front. unplug first. thats as far as we go there. remove belt out of dryer. take new belt and put on drum groove side down, get it uniform around drum. putting belt on pulley might be easier to do from behind for you. two screws to remove small access panel.take belt under pulley and over and around motor pulley. turn drum slowiy to make sure belt is not twisted. this belt can only go on a couple ways and one is obviously wrong. good luck.

Clunking sound at startup and seems to hesitate

UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine,
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

Dryer making loud clunking noise

Make sure the drum is not catching the back panel, and that the fan is not loose on the motor.

Dryer makes a loud noise then stops

If it stops running when hot it may be the motor. The belt or drum rollers would not stop it from running.

The belt goes around the pully so that the pully tension takes the slack out of the belt. Just like the serpentine belt on your car.
