Can't plug in power on button cable to new motherboard

Had to upgrade mobo to use new cpu and on/off wires don't fit on new mobo. Where can I get a replacement wire set for the power button so that it will work on a new mobo? Old mobo has 14 pin where on/off power wires plugs into, 3 pairs of wires for 3 different LEDs and 1 pair of wires for the on/off power button. The new mobo I got I was assured would work, and of course it doesn't; it has a 9pin on the mobo for the on/off power cable plugin. Is there an adapter that would work or am I out all I paid for new mobo and cpu?

Look closely at the new MOboard silk screened lettering to find where the power button wires and the leds go. They're there, just might be in a different place.

SOURCE: mismatch connection, plug vs pin after swithing motherboard

Hi there.
On the motherboard look for the front panel, it should be marked PWR and coloured green, also the plug that connects to it should be marked PWR_SW.
Have a look at these pictures for an idea >>>>>>

SOURCE: Acer Veriton M464 E4700 2.6Mhz cpu upgrade on MCP730 Mobo

Go to www.newegg.com and whatever you want to upgrade click on that item and match it up with your current board (by looking at the specifications and matching them). I suggest to buy a new mobo and all new processors and ram. You can use your old case, hard drive and all that good stuff that is removable.

Mainboard: g31 m7 te - power: antec hcg750 - gpu: gtx560ti

No the mobo is compatible with the Power Supply, and GPU.
And vice-versa.

Mainboard fan???????
You mean the Processor (CPU) fan?

I'm guessing I guess, because computer case fans aren't on the motherboard/mainboard/mobo.
(MOtherBOard)

You're getting power to the mobo, but the question is how much?

1) IF ALL of the LED lights were on at once, they would use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts of power.

3) A typical Processor can use from 51 to 125 Watts of power.
Just depends on what Processor it is.

http://206.108.48.60/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=363&tab=1

The mobo will support Intel Core2 Quad-Core processors. Depending on which one, you may be talking about Up To 105 Watts of power,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors#Quad-Core_Desktop_processors

This is why LED's can light, and fans may spin, but the Processor isn't getting enough power, so the computer will not turn on. (Processor isn't turning on)

Why?

1) Just because that Power Supply is new, doesn't mean it is good.
Sometimes you get a bad one. Test the three main voltages coming out, with a multimeter set to DC Voltage.

Need guidance post back in a Comment.
(An economical multimeter can be purchased, for as little as $8 to $12. I have seen cheaper. Available in a multitude of stores. An auto parts store is but one example )

2) You don't have the 4-pin ATX +12 Volt power cable plugged in.
Goes to the white square 4-socket hole connector, to the left top corner of the Processor socket.
(Motherboard installed in computer case)

3) REQUIRES -> TWO 6-pin PCI-Express power cables, for the Nvidia GTX560Ti graphics card.

The Antec HCG750 PSU has 4 of them, so no problem there, IF you have two of them plugged into the graphics card.

Both connectors of the 20 + 4-pin ATX main power cable's connector, need to be used. Biostar mobo requires a 24-pin ATX main power cable.

Post back in a Comment as to power cables plugged in, and DC Voltage test on PSU.

First remove the power plug from the smps and press the power switch few time and wait for few minutes the re plug the power connector to the smps and switch on the computer if you still dont have power then you will have to check whether the smps work to test that its not enough to test the voltage in the 21/24 pin you will have to short the green wire and the black wire and see whether the smps fan is working if the fan is not working then the problem is with smps

Asus p4p800s-x mobo will not post re:cpu upgrade

Try to reset the BIOS, this will force a redetection of the cpu. If it's the same after that then either the cpu is bad or its model isn't supported by the BIOS - try to upgrade it using an older cpu.

I need a new mother board for it. Which replacement should I purchase?

You didn't describe the problem very well; how did you determine that it was bad?

At any rate, AMD cpus have changed to socket AM3 in general, so although you could just look for any motherboard that's compatible with your socket-AM2 CPU and your DDR2, or even nForce-440 based mobos that reviewed well and yet are somehow still available, you could do well to pick a new motherboard/CPU/DDR3/videocard combination with a form factor that fits in the case. AMD CPUs don't do threading like Intel ones and you can migrate to 4 cores this way, or even upgrade your video despite having picked an onboard video solution.

Just check out Microcenter, Tigerdirect, local vendors, etc. and check out the features you can actually use.

If both motherboards are LGA775 socket, then the next concern is whether or not the case is capable of having the new motherboard installed into it. Disconnect all power cables to all dv drives or cd drives and hard drives. Disconnect all ribbons from drives to the mother board. If you can get to all of the screws that hold the motherboard into the case, you get away without removing drives. Once you've got the motherboard then you can disconnect the power cable from the motherboard. Remove the memory chips, disconnect the sound cable from the old motherboard. install the memory chips onto the new mobo, Connect the power cable to the new mobo, then install the new mobo into the case. Replace the ribbons from the drives to the mobo, replace the power cables to the drives and reinstall the sound cable to the cd or dv drive. You should be done now.
