DVD is jumping on visual but sound is ok....It is impossible to watch a film as the tracking is so bad, is there anything I can do myself to resolve this problem
Re: SL/DV280 DVD/CD PLAYER PROBLEMS TRACKING IS OUT BUT...
First check the disc doesn't have dirt, finger prints or is very badly scratched. If it happens on all discs you will need a lens cleaner disc. If that doesn't work then it could be damage to the lens or a fault on the unit.

Do you have skipping on every DVD/CD you burn? If so, then you're probably experiencing what's called 'buffer underrun'. When that happens, the burner writes faster than the computer can send it information, resulting in skipping. In the program you use, look for the 'burn options' and change the speed from 'automatic' to a manual, slower setting. That should fix your problem.
dear sir
good day
please test the cd on an other lab top
so you will know the problem and i think
it will come from the data cable of your cd
thank you
Nothing went wrong but it require audio codecs to be installed your DVD drive must be having a CD with it which has nero burning softwares and other like nero show time and dvd codecs. Install this programe from the cd supplied with it. use power DVD etc. many softwares are there .dvd play back
if the disc starts to rotate when helped by hand then you definately have a weak spindle motor. dvds spin faster than cds which gives more wear & tear to the motor. i've repaired these faults numerous times. hope this helps?
If the lens is clean (clean with cotton swab and alcohol), then the optics are failing. DVDs require more power and accuracy to be read than CDs. The ability to read CDs but not DVDs is usually a good indication that the optics are starting to fail.
