Onkyo TX-SR674 Receiver has sound but no picture

I turn the unit on, and after about 20 to 30 minutes, I finally get picture. I have replaced all the HDMI cables, and it didn't fix the problem. After what I call "The Warm Up Period" we eventually get to see the picture, which is good when it finally comes on.

Hi there, sounds like you have a ground loop happening there. Check out ground loops in google to get some tips. What you should try is use one wall plug for everything (with an adapter on it) and check that none of your other cables are damaged. try find new cables and put them in place of the old seemingly fine cables.

Could well be the quality of your cables. if you have high end cables the consult a service agent. if you have the cables that came with the products, go and get some better ones.

try checking the input assignment section and go to Component Video Input. Make sure DVD and CBL/SAT has" -----" on them to prevent conflict. Hope this helps. ^_^

SOURCE: onkyo tx sr804 receiver turns on by itself

I have the same receiver and the way to fix is simple. in the main board of this unit there are 5 connectors and they slide into other components like Lego. the issue is the king of material they are made of it's cheap. if you reseat the mainboard it will fix it for a day or two, them it will start again. the easyway is to re seat the board and put a fan inside of the receiver between the transformer and the inside of the amp pointing down about 20 degrees connect the fan to a ajustible voltage adapter and connect it to the outlet in the back of the unit. so it comes on when you turn it on. this voltage adapter is cheap. the adapters people buy for phones and or MP3's at Radio shack or Best buy it goes from 1.5v to 12 volts/ this way you can control how loud the fan is in side the receiver. i find 4.5V does the trick. The connectors on this board start to loose contact with some of the pins when heated. the fan keeps it cool enouth to fix the issue. I fixed manny these ONKYO 804's this will fix it. you just have to do it. the main board is inder the HDMI board in a Vertical position running from one side to almost the Power supply. it has 2 screws also holding it in the inside middle back of the amp. Becarefull with these amps 75 V at 23amp's DC is no joje leave it off for a couple of hours to satart working on it. Good luck.

HDMI flashing screen on Onkyo TX-SR674 receiver need advice on how to solve this problem

Hi Zach, you can try the following reset as this might be a glitch in the processor.

To do the reset you need to turn the receiver on, then on the front panel of the receiver press and hold the "VCR/DVR" button while doing that press the "STANDBY/ON" button. You will see the word "Clear" in the display screen and the receiver will go into standby mode. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR AUDIO & VIDEO ASSIGNMENTS ON THE RECEIVER PLUS YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SPEAKER CONFIGURATIONS, SPEAKER DISTANCE AND ALL LEVEL CALIBRATION SETTINGS. YOU WILL ALSO LOSE ANY PROGRAMMED RADIO STATIONS IN MEMORY. Once the receiver goes into standby mode turn it back on and go thru the setup menu for all custom settings., Thanks, JT

Power Loss Onkyo TX-SR674

Hi LuckyLady1

Yes, some units lose their presets quickly with the power disconnected. Most lose all memory presets within 10 days. They are designed this way. You may have to get someone in to sort it out for you if you cannot do it. Or ask me for a chat session and I can talk you through it. :)
