Believe it was placed too close to a space heater. - what else could the flashing purple light indicate?? my impression from other posts is that this is a power problem. i tried replacing the power supply board but to no effect. - i would check the fuses w/ a multimeter, but not sure of their location inside the tv after its been opened up. - is there a thermal switch inside the ltv 32w1 that could have been activated by excessive heat? where is this inside the tv after its been opened up?

1. Try this - hold the menu button down for 10 seconds. TV
should power up; you will have to turn off front panel buttons on menu.
2. You can also try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables
from TV. Wait about 30 minutes and replug to AC power and redo the cabling.
Switch on the TV and see if it works..
3. Powering down the set or putting it in standby may
have allowed the power supply to cool. Weak capacitors often go out of spec
when they cool, thus preventing a section of the power supply from firing up
properly again. There is a simple trick...just warm the back of the TV with a
hair dryer for 5-7 mins after you have unplugged the TV. Look for the little
areas of holes in the back panel of TV. Use these as your guide at where to use
the hairdryer, but don't hold the dryer too close (say 5-6inches away). (Make
sure the dryer is on High heat). If the TV doesn't turn on after you have
heated it up (like it tries to come on but then turns off) you need to unplug
the TV again, this resets it. And repeat those steps till it works. Resetting
the TV after it fails to turn on is the key.
Try these first and let me know how it goes..

in this case i have to know if your tuner is working fine or not.
First of all i like you to connect any external player Exp. DVD or blue-ray player if that works with audio then it is inverter board. if audio doesn't work then its main board.
Also you will find out that if dvd is working fine on your tv than your tv setting is wrong or the tunes is dead. either way if tuner is gone then you have to change the main board.
Either way let me know what went wrong i can provide you more information about what part need and where can you get it from.

It is caused by a failing transistor that after it reaches critical heat it caused the fail safe circuit to be invoked. TV shuts down, component cools off and starts it ascending to critical all over again. The longer you leave this problem the more costly to repair as it will eventuall spread to the other components overheating and possible fire.
Take it in for repairs now before it gets worse.
