Question about LG 37LG30 37 in. LCD HDTV

Open Question

Broken LG LCD TV 37LG30-UD power supply?

Lately, the image and sound went off and we could hear a tickling sound inside the TV. After checking everything regarding possible power problems, nothing from the troubleshooting appendix helped solve the problem. Could it be the power supply board? Is it a good idea to buy a new one to replace it?

Yes you need to replace the board LG 6871QYH048B. The board has a short. Check the fuses and one of them should have no continuity
because it is open.

Replace that board and problem solved

It generally depends on how thick the bar is. If it is directly in the center, it is possible that your Time Control/LCD Control board needs to be replaced.

However, there is a chance that the TCON/Control board alone will not fix the issue, and you will need to replace the LCD Panel.

Depending on your initial cost, the presence of a warranty--extended or otherwise--and your willingness to get it repaired, you may want to consider another set.

Expect to pay around $200-300.00 in labor costs to put an LCD panel in, and the cost of the panel can be quite exorbitant.

SOURCE: Cable receiving coupler broke away

The "Cable receiving coupler" looks like either a PCB or panel mount F-type coaxial connector (coax connector for short). It may be possible to remove the tuner ("cable receiving box") from the main board and replace the connector - it depends on how much damage was done to the tuner. If the circuit board is broken and components torn apart, it is probably better to replace the tuner or the entire board assembly.

I have successfully patched torn or blown foil traces around the coax connector - the key is to make sure any copper foil tape or wire used for patching matches the original shape of the printed circuit traces as closely as possible. Avoid distorting any wire coils mounted on the tuner circuit board, and observe electrostatic discharge precautions to make sure you don't blow out the glass gates inside the tuner's transistors (at a minimum keep one hand in contact with the metal side walls of the tuner while you work on it). If you have a crack in the board material, glue it back together with clear (not metal-filled) epoxy and let it cure before doing any other repairs.

If the connector is broken, contact the sales department at MCM Electronics. It's hard to tell for sure without opening the tuner, but the connector I saw in a picture of the board (costs more than the one on eBay) looks identical to the one used in many RCA tuners. (The RCA part has a flange for soldering to the tuner shield and a single pin extending down to the tuner board.) Most PCB mount coax connectors have a four-pin box-shaped shielding base around the center pin.

In short, repairing the tuner may be an option to replacement.

The best price I've found for the main board is $98.95 at Shop Jimmy (180 day warranty). I could not locate a separate tuner.

Trace the TV audio back to its source - TV or Cable Box most likely. We have no way of knowing which. Substitute in another source to test the input.

If DVD audio works so does the basic HTS.

It sounds like your screen inverter has just gone >bang< unfortunately.
Most screens inside use 2 main circuit boards, and you are most likely going to have to change one of them.
It's possible also for it to have been just the backlight bulb making the loud pop noise too. The inverter may have given out too much power and blown the bulb (a lot like you hear when a house bulb goes bang).

If you can't actually hear any TV sounds (normal sounds like music, voices etc. when they should be there), then it means the problem is more serious, and would need a specialist repair place to check out the electrical circuit inside.

My name is Huum,

You said, power on , but it won't spin. hear a clicking noise in the motherboard.
Everything seems to work. except it won't spin.
The dryer was only spinning but not heating lately. need assistance

The clicking is a bad relay sound.
This is an electrical problem and it may be a need for a new cpb (Control panel Board) also.
time to get a tech in there to diagnose which problem you have and get you doing laundry again

Sounds like it could be H.O.T which stands for horizontal output transistor or a fuse is possible. Another possibility is the FLYBACK transformer. Is there a local repair facility you could take it too? Keep me posted. Have a good day...Jay

We have had ALOT of samsungs in the shop lately and the most resonable solution for these units is just to replace the controll box as a whole. goto www.vancebaldwin.com and login as guest and search for it by model #.
