I have bought a new black ink cartridge and the printer is printing the document but they are coming out blank. Really want to know why!

I, too have had the same exact problem! I've searched and searched for a resolution, but to no avail. If anyone figures out what the problem is, and how to fix it, PLEASE post a response!

Try cleaning the copper contacts of the cartridge and the inner area of the slot where the cartridge goes in..
Also go to the Printer & Faxes under Control Panel and open the printer's properties..select Printing Preferences >> Paper / Quality >> under the color section check if "print in greyscale" is checked..
it shud not be checked...
save changes and try to print

I have a wonderful HP Deskjet 5650. I bought a 3rd party HP 56/57 ink cartridges from CompAndSave.com for about $30 for color and black. My color is ok that I still have from HP authentic brand. I have always used HP ink and never a problem; however, HP is very expensive! The copper contacts are clean, the pathway is clean, the printer is clean! The black ink does not come out of the cartridge and the paper is simply blank when coming out of the printer.

When I print in color, the HP color ink is there, but not the black as solid black, or mixed with color for that specific color. I've tried printing in Grayscale=nothing, black=nothing, and color=not correct without the black.

I guess I'll have to pay almost $100 for both color and black from HP again.

Can I turn off the Color & Print Only Black Ink - On a HP 5650??

To print in black and white you will need to go into your printers properties and look for a Printer Preference and change it.

Best of luck..

Do i have to have both color ink and black ink for the printer to work

Most printers can operate without both inks, black is a must. Use the Printer Properties, then Preferences and choose "Print in Greyscale". Hope this helps

It says that to see the level of ink in the cartridge you go to preferences and get a service menu. My software for HP injet 5650 does not have this option. How do I get it? Bill

It depends. What is your OS? If you have Win7 or Vista, you installed the basic driver in the OS. That does not include the full featured HP Toolbox and HP Solutions Center. You need to check the ink levels by printing a test page or an ink low monitor on the printer (either a light or a LCD screen display). For those OS's that have the full-featured software available, make sure it is installed and running (if you installed the basic driver, uninstall it first).

For information see: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=304445& and select your OS.

I hope this helps.

My HP 5650 will not display its "device status box". I want to see an ink level. I tried typing "msconfig" at the "run" prompt and was not able to find unchecked box with any "HP" label. I need to...

With printer on and ready, from the HP Solution Center software:

Click <Settings> button (left side)
Choose Print settings > Printer Toolbox
Click "Estimate Ink Levels" Tab

After installing re-filled ink cartridges, both color and back & white, the printer message that shows ink level still shows low level ink? How do we resolve?

Hello,

Try this procedure:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
