Won't start - lights come on and no error codes

Error light on motor flashes in 1 second intervals, no error codes. I checked the lid switch, fuse, and wiring and all seems fine. Motor and drum turns freely. I tried to put it in service mode to read lights, but it would not go into service mode. I also tested the start button switch and it it working. At this point I have to assumes its the control board. - Any way to confirm this?

There were no error codes on the motor inverter board. Replaced the main control board and that fixed the problem.

I have a whirlpool cabrio and the lid will not lock the light keeps flashing and it keeps making the lock clicking sound

BEFORE ASSUMING THE LID SWITCH NEEDS REPLACEMENT TEST WITH A METER, BUT FIRST TRY TO RESET CONTROL BOARD EVEN RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WILL REVEAL THE SOURCE OF THE ERROR.. 1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off; or with only the Clothes Clean or Done indicator on). 2. Select any one button (except POWER, START, STOP, and PAUSE/CANCEL) and follow the steps below, using the same button: a. Press/hold 3 seconds. b. Release for 3 seconds. c. Press/hold 3 seconds. d. Release for 3 seconds. e. Press/hold 3 seconds. ? If this test mode has been entered successfully, all indicators on the console are illuminated for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the Estimated Time Remaining two-digit display. ? If indicators do not display as described above, the press/hold/release procedure above may not have been performed within the time frame necessary for successful entry. Repeat step 2 to ensure this was not the cause. If still unsuccessful, see Diagnostic: Unsuccessful Entry, at right. 3. The test sequence continues by checking for saved fault codes: ? If there are saved fault codes, see Diagnostic: Saved Fault Codes, page 2. ? If there are no saved fault codes, all indicators on the console will momentarily turn off, then turn back on with 88 displayed. After 5 seconds, the Automatic test, below, begins.

Whirlpool Calypso Washing Machine Error Code Explanations And Repair

Failure - Code Condition - Check/Repair

PF - Power Failure - PF flashes if the washer loses power during a running cycle. The washer does not flash PF when it is first plugged in.

Press START to continue the cycle from the moment that power was lost -OR- Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display and completely cancel the cycle.

FL - Flood Condition - FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed.

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

ER - Processor Reset Error - This error code is displayed if the control failed to save cycle information during a power failure. This does not generate an error code beep.

LF - Long Fill - If the water fill time exceeds ten minutes, the water valves are turned off and LF is flashed.

CE - Communications Error - If there is any breakdown in communication between the machine controller and the motor controller, CE flashes and the unit beeps once.

Some common causes of CE errors include:
  • Conformal coating on serial communications pins between the machine controller and motor controller. After disconnecting power to the unit, try scraping this coating off the pins.
  • Check the resistance values between the serial communications pins with the connectors in place. Make sure the harness does not have a bad connection.
  • Check the quick disconnect at the motor terminal. The drive motor must be hooked up properly or a CE error will occur.
  • Drive motor thermal protector has opened.
  • Motor controller is not powered or fuse has opened. Replace motor controller.

LD - Long Drain - LD flashes if it takes longer than 5 minutes to pump out water to a point where the operating pressure switch resets.

CA or CL - Average current limit or Instantaneous current limit - If a status signal comes back from the motor controller that a current limit has been breached, the unit will return to standby mode and display either CA for average current limit trip or CL for instantaneous current limit trip.

  • Average current trip occurs if there is a 2 second average of current draw greater than 5.55 amps at the motor windings.
  • Instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 amps instantly at the motor windings. This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector, or motor controller. Over-loading the unit may cause this problem.

OB - Off Balance - If the motor controller detects an unrecoverable off-balance condition, the machine controller will shut down and display an OB for Off Balance.

The lid switch must be opened at least once before restarting the cycle, if this condition occurs. Opening the lid will allow the customer to view and redistribute the load.

SR - Stuck Relay - SR signifies a failure of the relay in the closed position. With this failure, power to the motor controller cannot be turned off by the machine controller.

The machine control board may have a bad relay and may need to be replaced. Check pins 1 and 5 of P16 of the machine controller and pins 1 and 2 of P1 of the motor controller. This should have AC line voltage when the motor controller is powered.

LS - Lid Switch Error - The control should flash this error code if it cannot detect the lid switch opening and closing properly. This error code may also be used if there is a disagreement between the motor and machine controllers on the stat if the lid switch. The control should not allow the unit to run in this condition.

This code will also appear if the user presses the START key while the lid is open.

Open the lid or press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

Kenmore Elite Model 110.42926 202 after setting the desired cycle will not start when you push the start button

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Incoming Power Problem If the washer won't start check to see if there is power at the electrical outlet which the washer is plugged into. Plug a lamp or radio into the outlet to check it. If the outlet is dead, check the circuit breakers or fuses for the home.

Power Cord If the washer won't start, check to be sure there is power to the electrical outlet for the home. If that is OK, the power cord itself might be defective. This is rare. You can check the power cord with an Ohm meter for continuity.
User Control and Display Board If the washer won't start, the user control and display board may be defective. Check for power to the washer first.

Timer If the washer won't start the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

Line Fuse If the washer won't start the line fuse might have blown.

Thermal Fuse If the washer won't start the thermal fuse may have blown. It can be tested for continuity. Watch our fuse testing video for more information.

Line Fuse and Holder If the washer won't start the line fuse might have blown, or the line fuse holder might be damaged and need to be replaced.

Main Control Board If the washer won't start the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other parts and causes first.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't start the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't start the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Frigidaire Model FTF21400ES0 Will not start just blinks

The control board will store error codes in memory. If you can get this unit in a test mode, you will be able to retrieve those error codes. As you hold in both the start & pause/cancel together the error code will be displayed.

You will need to count the flashing lights to read the error code. As you hold in the start & pause/cancel pads together, count how many times the row of lights flash on the far right hand side. This is the first digit. Now, as your still holding in the start & pause/cancel pads count how many times the start light flashes, this will be the second digit of the error code. Take note; all the lights flash at the same time so be sure to take separate readings

Without knowing correct Error code it is useless to waste money in replacing control board . You need to get the error code to diagnosis the problem correctly .

This error only shows in diagnostic mode, with power off choose any buttons except stop and power, press in intervals 5 seconds on and 5 seconds off until 88 appears and all light light up. If the user panel is faulted F 2 will flash in the display, press the same button you used to start diagnostics to jump to the next error code and once through 88 will flash and diagnostics will start. Sometimes once F2 flashes and the machine has not been repaired it will stick at that mode.
