Brother HL-4040CDN Laser Color Printer Printing Quality Issues

I've had this same problem since the day I bought this printer a year ago. I'm trying to print labels for my homemade bath products on a thick waterproof paper specially made for laser color printers. I've changed the waste toner and the drum, but I have hardly used this printer enough to change out the colors. When I'm ready to print my labels, I select "thick paper" or "thicker paper" and it has not made a difference. There are 6 labels on a paper. The top 2 have a little bit of a messup on the bottom of it and the last 4 are just totally messed up. It looks like the colors are being realigned while it's printing...I'm not sure how to word it. Here's what I'm talking about: http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff468/approvedent/IMAG0326.jpg

I forgot to mention that it prints perfectly on regular paper, but this printer should be able to print on this kind of paper since the paper is made specifically for laser color printers.

light installation and reflector? Where are they located? No, I haven't changed them recently. I've only had the printer a yr and hardly use it.

Hey Robb, Laster printers don't have print heads dummy, that is for inkjets. Just close your mouth if you don't know anything.

SOURCE: HP 8500 Color Laser Printer- problem priting reds

the basic causes for this problem is either the foil is bad or weak. secondly the element in the fuser unit doesnt heat properly so try replacing it with a working one n see what happends.

SOURCE: HP color laser 2550L prints only in yellow

Hi Mmgrafde,

Press the Go and Rotate Carousel buttons simultaneously. This will calibrate the printer. See if this works.

Otherwise....Remove all cartridges and drum. Switch off printer. Close the lid. Switch on printer and wait until any churning stops. Insert the drum and close the lid. Wait until any churning stops. Put in one cartridge at a time, closing the lid and wait till it stops churning each time. With the last cartridge put in, it will churning longer (calibrating). Try to print from your computer.

It could also be that the toner could actually have run out for the other colors.

Are you sure that none of the other colours are empty? If they are then this could be the problem

sounds like a bad drumbur also can be caused by a defective fuser.

What do I do when my Brother printer 4040cdn has the message "drum end soon"? It has ink cartridges that are not empty. When they need to be replaced there is a flashing light.

The drum is replaceable.
You can continue to use the printer but over time the print quality will degrade. At that point the only option is replacing the drum.
Brother claims the average drum life spans about 17,000 pages.
I hope this helps.

Brother HL-4040CDN printer colors are off, tend to be pink

There could be a number of causes for the problems your describing, but one of the most common causes of discoloration and issues with toner is a faulty ribbon sensor. A broken sensor will be unable to accurately read the ribbon and apply the correct color. I hope this helps

I just bought a Brother HL-2270DW Laser Printer and it says it can do two sided printing. How do I do that? I don't have a manual - it just came with a Set up Guide. Thank-you.

First you can download the manual here : http://www.iusermanual.com/printer/brother-hl-2270dw-printer-manual.htm

Usually you need to enable DUPLEX option in the printer's managing software...

Good luck!

I have an HL-4040CDN Brother printer that prints too red. We just purchased it and need how to fix this problem. It also prints colored text too light.

Many people are having problems with this machine. If you are dissatisfied with the quality I would return it and try something else. Your most economical solution is going to be a factory refurbished (with warranty) HP color laserjet. Staples usually has some good deals.
