SpySweeper Anti Virus conflicts with Trend Micro AntiVirus

When I purchased my computer it came with Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro Anti Virus. Recently when I turned my computer on, the Trend Micro would not load. I called them today and after much work, we found that my Spy Sweeper had been upgraded to a 5.8.l.5 which includes an anti virus protection and that anti virus program conflicts with the Trend Micro. I don't need two anti virus protections. I called Spy Sweeper, stayed on the phone for 32 minutes, spoke with a gentleman who could not help me and who told me he was sending me to someone else to help me remove the anti virus protection of Spy Sweeper, held on for another 20 minutes and gave up. HELP!!!!!

I would remove Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro. Then I would install the free versions of AVG, Ad-aware 2008, WinPatrol SpyBlaster and ScrubXP .

I have been using this combo for years and have had no problems as long as you keep them updated.

CAN'T FIND UNINSTALL FILE FOR SPY SWEEPER. Is causing conflicts with Trend Micro

Have you looked in the Spy Sweeper folder, most probably C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper and looked for the uninstaller - unins000.exe

You could always search for this file through Start>Search, select all files and folders and type "unins000.exe". It should find the file, this is the uninstaller, just double click.

You could also start in Safe Mode (restart computer and hit F8 when computer first starts) and delete the webroot folder C:\Program Files\Webroot\ . Do NOT try to delete the Program Files folder...

Good luck! Let me know if you need further help. I will check back tomorrow.

Can't check for updates for Anti Virus with Spy Sweeper - get DNS error - cannot locate server, and error code disp0201. I also re-directed to another web page when I try to update definitions or look for...

I would suspect your computer has a virus or has spyware or malware that is causing this. Restart your computer in Safe Mode and run Webroot and your other security software. If they find nothing then restart your computer and then go online and run this free scan. http://us.trendmicro.com/us/housecall/

Remove webroot spy sweep from my vista hp. I tried to renew my Trend Micro Antivirus, and now I'm showing NO Antivirus on my HP. Called Trend Micro and was told to remove Webroot. 09 version has spy ware...

If going to control panel and look for the program in "uninstall program", then try actually going to where the Webroot Spysweet is installed.

For example, and most likely, it is installed in C:\Program Files\Webroot Spysweep

AFter finding the folder, delete it and any other files related to this program.

Hope this helps!

Spy Sweeper with Antivirus

Spy Sweeper is for spyware and that is not the same as anti virus software..If you do not have anti virus software, you should consider a getting one of the more popular types such as McAfee or Trend PC Cillin.these are two readily available types .. It is good to have both spyware and virus protection and they are not the same.. Hope this helps you..

Trend Micro Antivirus/Vista Antivirus 2008

Hello there.

Unfortunately you have been infected, by the software called "Vista Antivirus 2008". What this software does is infect you, then prompt you to pay to remove the infection that it installed. So it is a scam.

What i would recommend is use the uninstall instructions from here http://www.windowsvistaplace.com/xp-antivirus-2008-removal-instructions-xp-antivirus-2008/spyware-removal

This will remove the infection (and others) from your system.

Once you have completed the steps, be sure to try an online scanner such as housecall here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
This will not conflict with your already-installed Trend Micro software, it mearly runs through your web browser.

On that note, Internet Explorer is not very safe for browsing the Internet with, i would recommend either Firefox or Opera for a safer/better browsing experience.

Hope this helps.

Internet

Your Trend Micro will only handle viruses, for website access, it's the SpySweeper. Try disabling SpySweeper and surf, if all goes well, you just need to configure SpySweeper.
